Claims
- 1. An automatic transmission fluid which comprises:
- (a) mineral oil;
- (b) 0.05.5.0 weight % of total fluid of a borated or unborated hydroxy ether amine compound having the formula: ##STR19## wherein X represents O, R.sub.1 represents a C.sub.3 -C.sub.27 saturated or unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon radical, R.sub.2 represents a straight chain C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkylene radical, R.sub.3 represents H or CH.sub.3, and R.sub.4 and R.sub.5, independently, represent straight chain C.sub.2 -C.sub.5 alkylene radicals, said hydroxy ether amine compound having from 10 to 30 total carbon atoms; and
- (c) 0.1-1 weight % of total fluid of an organic phosphite ester having the formula ##STR20## wherein R.sub.6 represents a hydrocarbyl radical selected from the group consisting of aryl and C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkaryl, and R.sub.7 and R.sub.8, independently, represent a hydrocarbyl radical selected from the group consisting of C.sub.1 -C.sub.25 alkyl, aryl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkaryl, C.sub.5 -C.sub.8 cycloalkyl, and halo-substituted derivatives thereof.
- 2. The composition of claim 1, wherein R.sub.1 represents a C.sub.16 -C.sub.20 alkylene radical and R.sub.2 represents a C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 alkylene radical.
- 3. The composition of claim 2, wherein R.sub.1 is C.sub.18 alkylene, R.sub.2 is C.sub.3 alkylene, R.sub.3 is H, and R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 are C.sub.2 alkylene.
- 4. The composition of claim 2, wherein said hydroxy ether amine compound has been borated.
- 5. The composition of claim 4, wherein said organic phosphite is present in an amount of from about 0.1 to about 1 wt. % based on the weight of the composition.
- 6. The composition of claim 5, wherein R.sub.6, R.sub.7 and R.sub.8 are selected from the group consisting of alkyl, aryl an alkaryl radicals.
- 7. The composition of claim 6, wherein R.sub.6, R.sub.7 and R.sub.8 are selected from the group consisting of aryl radicals.
- 8. The composition of claim 1, wherein the organic phosphite ester is triphenyl phosphite.
- 9. The composition of claim 3, wherein the organic phosphite ester is triphenyl phosphite.
