Claims
- 1. A compound of the formula ##STR16## or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein R is hydrogen, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4)-alkanoyl, benzoyl, (C.sub.2 -C.sub.4)-carbalkoxy, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.3)-alkylcarbamoyl, (C.sub.5 -C.sub.7)-cycloalkylcarbamoyl or di(C.sub.1 -C.sub.3)-alkylcarbamoyl;
- Y is hydrogen or (C.sub.1 -C.sub.3)alkoxy,
- Y' is hydrogen or (C.sub.1 -C.sub.3)alkyl; and
- Y" is hydrogen or halo.
- 2. A compound of the formula ##STR17## or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein Y is hydrogen or (C.sub.1 -C.sub.3)alkoxy,
- Y' is hydrogen or (C.sub.1 -C.sub.3)alkyl; and
- Y" is hydrogen or halo.
- 3. A compound of claim 2 wherein Y is methoxy or ethoxy and Y' is hydrogen.
- 4. The compound of claim 3 wherein Y is methoxy and Y" is hydrogen.
- 5. The compound of claim 3 wherein Y is methoxy and Y" is chloro.
- 6. The compound of claim 3 wherein Y is ethoxy and Y" is hydrogen.
- 7. The compound of claim 3 wherein Y is ethoxy and Y" is chloro.
- 8. A method of lowering the blood glucose in a hyperglycemic mammal which comprises administering to a mammal in need of such treatment a blood glucose lowering amount of a compound of claim 1.
- 9. A method of lowering the blood glucose in a hyperglycemic mammal which comprises administering to a mammal in need of such treatment a blood glucose lowering amount of a compound of claim 2.
- 10. A method of lowering the blood glucose in a hyperglycemic mammal which comprises administering to a mammal in need of such treatment a blood glucose lowering amount of a compound of claim 3.
- 11. A method of lowering the blood glucose in a hyperglycemic mammal which comprises administering to a mammal in need of such treatment a blood glucose lowering amount of a compound of claim 4.
- 12. A method of lowering the blood glucose in a hyperglycemic mammal which comprises administering to a mammal in need of such treatment a blood glucose lowering amount of a compound of claim 5.
- 13. A method of lowering the blood glucose in a hyperglycemic mammal which comprises administering to a mammal in need of such treatment a blood glucose lowering amount of a compound of claim 6.
- 14. A method of lowering the blood glucose in a hyperglycemic mammal which comprises administering to a mammal in need of such treatment a blood glucose lowering amount of a compound of claim 7.
- 15. A pharmaceutical composition for use in a hyperglycemic mammal which comprises a blood glucose lowering amount of a compound of claim 1 and a pharmaceutically-acceptable carrier.
- 16. A pharmaceutical composition for use in a hyperglycemic mammal which comprises a blood glucose lowering amount of a compound of claim 2 and a pharmaceutically-acceptable carrier.
- 17. A pharmaceutical composition for use in a hyperglycemic mammal which comprises a blood glucose lowering amount of a compound of claim 3 and a pharmaceutically-acceptable carrier.
- 18. A pharmaceutical composition for use in a hyperglycemic mammal which comprises a blood glucose lowering amount of a compound of claim 4 and a pharmaceutically-acceptable carrier.
- 19. A pharmaceutical composition for use in a hyperglycemic mammal which comprises a blood glucose lowering amount of a compound of claim 5 and a pharmaceutically-acceptable carrier.
- 20. A pharmaceutical composition for use in a hyperglycemic mammal which comprises a blood glucose lowering amount of a compound of claim 6 and a pharmaceutically-acceptable carrier.
- 21. A pharmaceutical composition for use in a hyperglycemic mammal which comprises a blood glucose lowering amount of a compound of claim 7 and a pharmaceutically-acceptable carrier.
