Claims
- 1. A method of burning waste gas, using an igniter of the type having a nozzle, a main gas conduit extending to the nozzle, and an electrical spark means for creating a spark in the nozzle, the method comprising in combination:
- mounting the igniter to a waste gas discharge pipe with the nozzle directed across the opening of the gas discharge pipe;
- supplying a gaseous fuel to the main gas conduit;
- igniting the gaseous fuel with the electrical spark means, creating a flame for igniting the waste gas being discharged from the gas discharge pipe;
- providing the igniter with an auxillary gas line extending to the vicinity of the nozzle; and
- supplying a second and lower volume source of waste gas to the auxillary gas line for burning at the nozzle.
- 2. The method according to claim 1 further comprising:
- providing a second auxillary line in the igniter extending to the vicinity of the nozzle; and
- selectively supplying the second auxillary line with a source of fire extinguishing fluid for extinguishing the flame.
