Claims
- 1. An image coding method for coding each block of a digital image divided into a plurality of two-dimensional blocks, each block having a plurality of pixels, the method comprising:
determining a coding mode for a target block to output mode information of the target block; coding the mode information of the target block using mode information of previously coded blocks at a periphery of the target block; and coding pixel data in the target block according to the mode information of the target block.
- 2. An image coding apparatus that codes each block of a digital image divided into a plurality of two-dimensional blocks, each block having a plurality of pixels, said apparatus comprising:
a coding mode determining section that determines a coding mode for a target block to output mode information of said target block; a mode information coding section that codes said mode information of said target block using mode information of previously coded blocks at a periphery of said target block; and a block data coding section that codes pixel data of said target block according to said mode information of said target block.
- 3. A computer readable recording medium with an image coding program stored therein, said image coding program being executed by a computer to execute procedures for coding each block of a digital image divided into a plurality of two-dimensional blocks, each block having a plurality of pixels, said image coding program comprising:
determining a coding mode for a target block to output mode information of said target block; coding said mode information of said target block using mode information of previously coded blocks at a periphery of the said target block; and coding pixel data in the target block according to the mode information of the target block.
