Claims
- 1. A power supply mechanism for an image forming apparatus, comprising:
- a wall having a hole therethrough;
- a first member which includes a terminal which supplies power, the terminal being moveable in a direction perpendicular to a plane of the hole, the first member protruding through the hole;
- a second member including a shaft which receives the power from the first member.
- 2. A power supply mechanism according to claim 1, wherein the first member comprises:
- a spring which urges the terminal towards the shaft.
- 3. A power supply mechanism according to claim 2, wherein the terminal comprises:
- a convex terminal.
- 4. A power supply mechanism according to claim 3, further comprising:
- a wire connected to the convex terminal.
- 5. A power supply mechanism according to claim 1, wherein the terminal comprises:
- a convex terminal.
- 6. A power supply mechanism according to claim 1, further comprising:
- a rotatable unit having the shaft mounted thereto,
- wherein rotation of the rotatable unit causes the terminal to come into and out of contact with the second member.
- 7. A power supply mechanism according to claim 6, wherein:
- one of the second member and the terminal comprises a convex surface and the other of the second member and the terminal comprises a concave surface.
- 8. A power supply mechanism according to claim 1, wherein:
- one of the second member and the terminal comprises a convex surface and the other of the second member and the terminal comprises a concave surface.
- 9. A power supply mechanism according to claim 1, wherein:
- at least a portion of the first member is fixed relative to the wall.
- 10. A power supply mechanism according to claim 9, wherein:
- said at least a portion of the first member is fixed to the wall.
- 11. An image forming device, comprising:
- a rotary developing device including:
- a plurality of developing sections, each including a developing roller, arranged around an axis of rotation and rotatable to align any one of said plurality of developing sections with a developing position where an image carrier is located, individual ones of said plurality of developing sections operating only when at said developing position and no more than one of said plurality of developing sections operating to develop an image on the image carrier at any time; and
- a power input terminal which receives power and supplies the received power to at least one of the plurality of developing sections; and
- a power output terminal which supplies the power to the power input terminal,
- wherein:
- the power output terminal comes into and out of contact with the power input terminal due to a rotation of the rotary developing device,
- each of the plurality of developing sections comprise a power input terminal,
- the power output terminal contacts only the power input terminal of one of the plurality of developing devices which is at said developing position, and
- the power output terminal is retractable relative to the power input terminals,
- the image forming device further comprising:
- a wall having a hole therethrough through which the power output terminal moves with respect to the power input terminals.
- 12. A device according to claim 11, wherein:
- each of the power input terminals comprises a shaft of a corresponding one of the developing rollers.
- 13. A device according to claim 11, wherein:
- each of the power input terminals has a length which is parallel to the developing rollers, and supplies received power to a corresponding one of the plurality of developing sections.
- 14. An image forming device, comprising:
- a rotary developing device including:
- a plurality of developing sections, each including a developing roller, arranged around an axis of rotation and rotatable to align any one of said plurality of developing sections with a developing position where an image carrier is located, individual ones of said plurality of developing sections operating only when at said developing position and no more than one of said plurality of developing sections operating to develop an image on the image carrier at any time; and
- a power input terminal which receives power and supplies the received power to at least one of the plurality of developing sections;
- a power output terminal which supplies the power to the power input terminal; and
- a wall having a hole therethrough through which the power output terminal moves with respect to the power input terminals,
- wherein the power output terminal comes into and out of contact with the power input terminal due to a rotation of the rotary developing device.
- 15. An image forming device according to claim 14, wherein:
- each of the plurality of developing sections comprise a power input terminal; and
- the power output terminal contacts only the power input terminal of one of the plurality of developing devices which is at said developing position.
- 16. An image forming device according to claim 15, wherein:
- the power output terminal is retractable relative to the power input terminals.
- 17. An image forming device, comprising:
- a rotary developing device including:
- a plurality of developing sections, each including a developing roller, arranged around an axis of rotation and rotatable to align any one of said plurality of developing sections with a developing position where an image carrier is located, individual ones of said plurality of developing sections operating only when at said developing position and no more than one of said plurality of developing sections operating to develop an image on the image carrier at any time; and
- a plurality of power input terminals corresponding to the plurality of developing sections, each of the power input terminals having a length which is parallel to the developing rollers and supplying received power to a corresponding one of the plurality of developing sections;
- a power output terminal which supplies the received power to each of the power input terminals.
- 18. An image forming device according to claim 17, wherein:
- wherein the power output terminal comes into and out of contact with the power input terminals due to a rotation of the rotary developing device.
- 19. An image forming device according to claim 17, wherein:
- wherein the power input terminals comprise shafts of the developing rollers.
- 20. An image forming device according to claim 19, wherein:
- wherein the power output terminal comes into and out of contact with the power input terminals due to a rotation of the rotary developing device.
- 21. An image forming device, comprising:
- a rotary developing device including:
- a plurality of developing sections, each including a developing roller, arranged around an axis of rotation and rotatable to align any one of said plurality of developing sections with a developing position where an image carrier is located by rotation about the axis of rotation, individual ones of said plurality of developing sections operating only when at said developing position and no more than one of said plurality of developing sections operating to develop an image on the image carrier at any time; and
- a power input terminal which receives power and supplies the received power to at least one of the plurality of developing sections, the power input terminal being disposed off of the axis of rotation of the rotary developing device and rotatable about the axis of rotation; and
- a power output terminal which supplies the power to the power input terminal,
- wherein the power output terminal comes into and out of contact with the power input terminal due to a rotation of the developing sections about the axis of rotation.
