Abstract
An image pickup apparatus which performs an image pickup of an object and records a pickup image includes a display unit which displays an operation item for execution of operation corresponding to the operation mode of the image pickup apparatus, a communication unit which connects a peripheral device so as to allow communication, and a determination unit which determines whether the peripheral device is connected. The display unit displays a specific operation item in an already selected state in accordance with the determination result obtained by the determination unit.

Claims
  • 1. An image pickup apparatus which performs an image pickup of an object and records a pickup image, comprising: a display unit adapted to display an operation item for execution of operation corresponding to an operation mode of the image pickup apparatus;a communication unit adapted to connect a peripheral device so as to allow communication; anda determination unit adapted to determine whether the peripheral device is connected,wherein said display unit displays a specific operation item in an already selected state in accordance with a determination result obtained by said determination unit.
  • 2. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the specific operation item comprises an operation item associated with a connected peripheral device.
  • 3. The apparatus according to claim 2, wherein the operation item comprises a plurality of sheets classified according to functions of the image pickup apparatus, andsaid display unit displays a sheet associated with a connected peripheral device in an already selected state.
  • 4. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein when a setting for an operating condition for a connected peripheral device has already been set, said display unit displays an operation item for designating start of operation of the peripheral device in an already selected state.
  • 5. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein when no setting for an operating condition for a connected peripheral device is set, said display unit displays an operation item for setting an operating condition for the peripheral device in an already selected state.
  • 6. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein when it is determined that the peripheral device is connected during display of another operation item, said display unit displays the specific operation item in a selected state.
  • 7. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the peripheral device comprises a printer.
  • 8. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the peripheral device comprises a personal computer.
  • 9. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the peripheral device comprises a recording medium which is detachable with respect to the image pickup apparatus.
  • 10. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the peripheral device comprises another image pickup apparatus.
  • 11. The apparatus according to claim 4, wherein the peripheral device comprises a printer, the operating condition for the peripheral device comprises a print setting associated with the printer, and the start of operation of the peripheral device is start of printing by the printer.
  • 12. A control method for an image pickup apparatus which includes an image pickup unit adapted to perform an image pickup of an object, a display unit adapted to display an operation item for execution of operation corresponding to an operation mode and a communication unit adapted to connect a peripheral device so as to allow communication, comprising: a determination step of determining whether the peripheral device is connected; anda display step of displaying, on the display unit, a specific operation item in an already selected state in accordance with a determination result.
  • 13. The method according to claim 12, wherein the specific operation item comprises an operation item associated with a connected peripheral device.
  • 14. The method according to claim 13, wherein the operation item comprises a plurality of sheets classified according to functions of the image pickup apparatus, andin the display step, a sheet associated with a connected peripheral device is displayed in an already selected state.
  • 15. The method according to claim 12, wherein in the display step, when a setting for an operating condition for a connected peripheral has already been made, an operation item for designating start of operation of the peripheral device is displayed in an already selected state.
  • 16. The method according to claim 12, wherein in the display step, when no setting is made for an operating condition for a connected peripheral device, an operation item for setting an operating condition for the peripheral device is displayed in an already selected state.
  • 17. The method according to claim 12, wherein in the display step, when it is determined that the peripheral device is connected during display of another operation item, the specific operation item is displayed in a selected state.
  • 18. The method according to claim 12, wherein the peripheral device comprises a printer.
  • 19. The method according to claim 12, wherein the peripheral device comprises a personal computer.
  • 20. The method according to claim 12, wherein the peripheral device comprises a recording medium which is detachable with respect to the control method.
  • 21. The method according to claim 12, wherein the peripheral device comprises another image pickup apparatus.
  • 22. The method according to claim 15, wherein the peripheral device comprises a printer, the operating condition for the peripheral device comprises a print setting associated with the printer, and the start of operation of the peripheral device is start of printing by the printer.
  • 23. A program for causing a computer to execute a control method defined in claim 12.
  • 24. A computer-readable storage medium storing a program defined in claim 23.
