Claims
- 1. An image processing apparatus comprising:
- encoding means for encoding binary signals and multi-level color signals;
- binarization means for converting a muti-level color signal into a binary color signal;
- removal means for removing the edge component from the multi-level color signal, using a signal derived from the binary signal produced by said binarization means;
- first encoder means for encoding the binary signal from said binarization means and outputting first encoded data;
- second encoder means for encoding the muti-level color signal of which edge component is removed by said removal means and outputting second encoded data, and
- control means for controlling said second encoder means not to output the second encoded data.
- 2. An image processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said removal means comprises differential means arranged to produce a signal representative of the difference between the binary signal and the multi-level color signal.
- 3. An image processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said removal means comprises mask means arranged to mask the multi-level color signal with the binary signal.
- 4. An image processing apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising conversion means for converting the output of said binarization means into specified values.
- 5. An image processing apparatus according to claim 4, further comprising control means for controlling the operation of said conversion means in accordance with information relating to an area of the image.
- 6. An image processing apparatus according to claim 4, further comprising control means for controlling the operation of said conversion means in accordance with information relating to the encode mode.
- 7. An image processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said encoder means is a common encoding means for encoding the binary signals and the multi-level color signals in sequence.
- 8. An image processing apparatus according to claim 1, arranged such that multi-level color signals are encoded and transmitted after the binary signals are encoded and transmitted.
- 9. An image processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said control means is arranged to control said second encoder means, not to output the second encoded data, by not encoding the multi-level color signal having the edge component removed by said removal means.
- 10. An image processing method comprising the steps of:
- encoding binary signals and multi-level color signals;
- converting a multi-level color signal into a binary color signal;
- removing the edge component from the muti-level color signal, using a signal derived from the binary signal converted in said converting step;
- a first encoding step of encoding the binary signal converted in said converting step, and outputting first encoded data; and
- a second encoding step of encoding the muti-level color signal after removal of the edge component in said removing step, and outputting second encoded data, and cont
- rolling said second encoding step such that the second encoded data is not output in said second encoding step.
- 11. An image processing method according to claim 10, wherein said removing step comprises producing a signal representative of the difference between the binary signal and the multi-level color signal.
- 12. An image processing method according to claim 10, wherein said removing step comprises masking the multi-level color signal with the binary signal.
- 13. An image processing method according to claim 10, including the step of converting said binary color signal into specified values.
- 14. An image processing method according to claim 13, wherein said converting step is controlled in accordance with information relating to an area of the image.
- 15. An image processing method according to claim 13, said converting step is controlled in accordance with information relating to the encode mode.
- 16. An image processing method according to claim 10, wherein said binary signals and said multi-level color signals are encoded in sequence.
- 17. An image processing method according to claim 10, wherein the multi-level color signals are encoded and transmitted after the binary signals are encoded and transmitted.
- 18. An image processing method according to claim 10, wherein said second encoder step is controlled to output the second encoded data, by not encoding the muti-level color signal having the edge component removed during said removal step.
