Abstract
An image transmission device including a content compression unit configured to compress an image signal, a wireless transmission unit configured to wirelessly transmit the compressed image signal to an image reception device, and a processor configured to switch a power mode of the image transmission device to a low power mode based on a determination that an image signal is not being received from an external source or that an ambient brightness at the image reception device is less than a preset brightness, and control the content compression unit to increase a compression rate of the image signal in the low power mode.
Description
Claims
  • 1. An image transmission device comprising: a content compression unit configured to compress an image signal;a wireless transmission unit configured to wirelessly transmit the compressed image signal to an image reception device, anda processor configured to: switch a power mode of the image transmission device to a low power mode based on a determination that an image signal is not being received from an external source or that an ambient brightness at the image reception device is less than a preset brightness; and;control the content compression unit to increase a compression rate of the image signal in the low power mode.
  • 2. The image transmission device of claim 1, wherein the processor is further configured to control the wireless transmission unit to reduce a_ transmission power consumed in transmitting the image signal.
  • 3. The image transmission device of claim 2, wherein the processor is further configured to adjust an arrangement angle of a radio frequency (RF) antenna included in the wireless transmission unit to reduce the transmit power.
  • 4. The image transmission device of claim 1, wherein the processor is further configured to transmit a power mode switch request message to the image reception device through the wireless transmission unit requesting the image reception device to switch to a low power mode.
  • 5. The image transmission device of claim 1, further comprising a signal input interface and a signal discrimination unit, wherein the signal discrimination unit determines whether the image signal is being received from an external source based on a signal output by the signal input interface.
  • 6. The image transmission device of claim 5, further comprising a memory storing a data table comprising compression rates corresponding to various ambient brightness levels.
  • 7. The image transmission device of claim 6, wherein the compression rate for the content compression unit is determined based on the stored data table using the ambient brightness at the image reception device.
  • 8. The image transmission device of claim 1, wherein the wireless transmission unit comprises: one or more RF antennas configured to transmit the compressed image signal to the image reception device through RF communication; anda Bluetooth module for bi-directional communication with the image reception device.
  • 9. An image reception device comprising: a wireless reception unit configured to wirelessly receive an image signal from an image transmission device;a content restoration unit configured to decompress the received image signal;a display configured to display an image corresponding to the decompressed image signal;an illuminance sensor configured to measure an ambient brightness at the display; anda microcomputer configured to switch a power mode of the image reception device to a low power mode based on the ambient brightness being less than a preset brightness.
  • 10. The image reception device of claim 9, wherein the microcomputer is further configured to transmit a power mode switch request message to the image transmission device through the wireless reception unit requesting the image transmission device to switch to a low power mode.
  • 11. The image reception device of claim 10, wherein the power mode switch request message includes the measured ambient brightness.
  • 12. The image reception device of claim 9, wherein, the received image signal has a compression rate higher than a preset compression rate when the image transmission device is switched to the low power mode.
  • 13. The image reception device of claim 12, wherein the image signal corresponds to a standby image displayed on the display in the low power mode of the image reception device.
  • 14. The image reception device of claim 9, wherein the microcomputer is further configured to set the power mode as a normal power mode based on the ambient brightness being equal to or greater than the preset brightness.
  • 15. The image reception device of claim 9, wherein the wireless reception device further comprises: one or more RF antennas configured to receive the image signal through RF communication; anda Bluetooth module for bi-directional communication with the image transmission device.
