Claims
- 1. An immobilized buffered gel which comprises an optionally cross-linked matrix of a mixture of (I) and (II),
- (I) being an acid reaction product of
- (A) a hydroxy group containing neutral polymer which comprises a polysaccharide or a synthetic homo- or copolymer selected from the group consisting of a polyvinyl alcohol, a copolymer on the basis of vinylalcohol, a poly-(hydroxyalkyl)- or poly-(hydroxyalkoxyalkyl)-acrylate or -methacrylate, a homopolymer based on an N-(meth)acryloyl-tris-(hydroxyalkyl)aminomethane, a copolymer of a hydroxyalkylacrylate or -methacrylate, or a hydroxyalkoxyalkyl acrylate or -methacrylate and at least one comonomer, and a block co- or terpolymer of said (meth)acrylates and said at least one comonomer, and
- (B) a reactive acid reaction product of
- (a) an alkylamino carboxylic or alkylamino sulfonic acid, each independently containing 1 to 6 carbon atoms in the alkyl moiety, and
- (b) a di- or triazine containing at least two nucleophilic leaving groups selected from the group consisting of a halogen atom, ammonium, sulfonium and sulfo, and
- (II) being a basic reaction product of
- (A) as hereinbefore defined and
- (B') a reactive basic reaction product of
- (c) an alkyl monoamine or an alkylene polyamine of 1 to 10 carbon atoms and
- (b) a di- or triazine containing at least two nucleophilic leaving groups selected from the group consisting of a halogen atom, ammonium, sulfonium and sulfo.
- 2. An immobilized buffered gel according to claim 1, which comprises an optionally cross-linked microporous matrix of a hydroxy group containing neutral polymer (A) and chemically bound to the matrix a pH-determining acid (B) and basic (B') diazine or triazine reaction product.
- 3. An immobilized buffered gel according to claim 1, wherein the polysaccharide is agarose.
- 4. An immobilized buffered gel according to claim 1, wherein component (b) is cyanuric chloride or tetrachloropyrimidine.
- 5. An immobilized buffered gel according to claim 1, which is formed into a membrane, or a pH-gradient gel plate or column.
- 6. An immobilized buffered gel according to claim 5, wherein the quantity of each buffering group is 1 to 100 mmol per kg of a 2% wet gel.
- 7. An immobilized buffered gel according to claim 6, wherein the quantity of each buffering group is 1 to 20 mmol per kg of 2% wet gel.
