Claims
- 1. A method for producing antibodies that react specifically with the basement membrane human type IV collagen .alpha.5 chain and not with the basement membrane human type IV collagen .alpha.1 or .alpha.2 chains, comprising the steps of:
- a) immunizing an animal with the synthetic peptide consisting of the residues Ser-Asp-Met-Phe-Ser-Lys-Pro-Gln-Ser-Glu; and
- b) collecting the antiserum produced by the animal.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein said synthetic peptide is coupled to a carrier prior to immunization.
- 3. Antibodies which react specifically with basement membrane human type IV collagen .alpha.5 chain and not with basement membrane type IV collagen .alpha.1 and .alpha.2 chains.
