Claims
- 1. A method for enhancing the antigen-specific humoral immune response of B lymphocytes in a test animal comprising the steps of:
- contacting B lymphocytes with a composition containing a diluent amount of a physiologically tolerable carrier with an immune response-enhancing effective amount of an active ingredient that is a guanosine analog derivative whose structure conforms to that of the formula ##STR25## wherein Z is O or S;
- X is O or S;
- R.sub.1 is 1'-beta-D-ribofuranosidyl and its C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkanoyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkylidene, benzyl and benzoyl derivatives, and the pharmaceutically acceptable non-toxic, base addition salts of said guanine analog derivative; and
- maintaining said contact for a time period sufficient to said B lymphocytes to enhance their response.
- 2. The method according to claim 1 wherein said guaosine analog derivative is 7-deaza-7-oxa-8-thio-9,1'-beta-D-ribofuranosidyl guanine.
- 3. The method according to claim 1 wherein said guanosine analog derivative is 7-deaza-7-oxa-8-oxo-9,1'-beta-D-ribofuranosidyl guanine.
- 4. A guanosine analog derivative whose structure conforms to that of the formula ##STR26## wherein Z is O;
- X is O or S; and
- R.sub.1 is 1'-beta-D-ribofuranosidyl and its O-substituted C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkanoyl, 2',3'-C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkylidene, benzyl and benzoyl derivatives, and the pharmaceutically acceptable non-toxic, base addition salts of said guanosine analog.
- 5. A guanosine analog derivative whose structure conforms to that of the formula ##STR27## wherein Z is O;
- X is O or S; and
- R.sub.1 is 1'-beta-D-ribofuranosidyl and the pharmaceutically acceptable non-toxic, base addition salts of said guanosine analog.
- 6. 7-Deaza-7-oxa-8-oxo-9-(1'-beta-D-ribofuranosidyl)guanine.
- 7. 7-Deaza-7-oxa-8-oxo-9-(1'-beta-D-2'-deoxyribofuranosidyl)guanine.
