Claims
- 1. A method of treating in a mammal exhibiting allographic rejection phenomena from tissue transplantation which comprises:
- systemically administering to said mammal in a pharmaceutically acceptable dosage form a dithiocarbanilate of the formula ##STR9## wherein T is nitro, fluoro, chloro, bromo, trifluoromethyl, lower alkylsulfonyl, phenylsulfonyl, or (lower alkyl)phenylsulfonyl;
- wherein r is the integer one or 2;
- wherein C.sub.m H.sub.2m is alkylene of one to 5 carbon atoms, inclusive; and
- wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen or alkyl of one to 12 carbon atoms, inclusive;
- in not less than a non-toxic amount effective to prolong the viability of the transplanted tissue.
- 2. A method according to claim 1, whrein said dithiocarbanilate is .omega.-(hydroxycarbonyl)ethyl m-fluorodithiocarbanilate.
- 3. A method of treating a mammal exhibiting rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, regional enteritis, chronic active hepatitis, nephrotic syndrome, glomerulonephritis, lupus nephritis, and ulcerative colitis which comprises:
- systemically administrating to said mammal in a pharmaceutically acceptable dosage form a dithiocarbanilate of the formula ##STR10## wherein T is nitro, fluoro, chloro, bromo, trifluoromethyl, lower alkylsulfonyl, phenylsulfonyl, or (lower alkyl) phenylsulfonyl;
- wherein r is the integer one or 2;
- wherein C.sub.m H.sub.2m is alkylene of one to 5 carbon atoms, inclusive; and
- wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen or alkyl of one to 12 carbon atoms, inclusive;
- is not less than a non-toxic amount effective to induce significant symptomatic relief.
- 4. A method according to claim 3, wherein said dithiocarbanilate is .omega.-(hydroxycarbonyl)ethyl m-fluorodithiocarbanilate.
