Claims
- 1. A timepiece comprising:
- a plurality of internal members including a timekeeping gear train;
- a first frame formed of metal, having bearing means formed integrally therein, and including a first side and a second side;
- a second frame formed of metal having a first side and a second side and spaced from said first frame so that at least a part of the second side of said second frame faces a part of said first side of said first frame, a portion of said internal members including said timekeeping gear train being supported between and by said first and second frames, said second frame including first leaf spring bias means formed integrally therewith for applying holding force when deflected relative to said second frame; and
- circuit pressing means formed of metal connected to said first frame and disposed in part facing a portion of the first side of said second frame for preventing movement of said second frame relative to said first frame, said circuit pressing means being shaped so as to not overlie the portions of said first and second frames supporting said timekeeping gear train and being coupled to the second side of said first frame, said circuit pressing means including second leaf spring bias means formed integrally therewith for positioning at least two other of the internal members relative to each other by exerting pressure against at least of one of said at least two other internal members.
- 2. The timepiece of claim 1, wherein said circuit pressing means and said first frame both include clip means for securing said circuit pressing means to said first frame.
- 3. The timepiece of claim 1, further including a power source for producing electrical current and wherein said circuit pressing means is made of an electrically conductive material positioned in electrical coupling with said power source whereby electrical current flows through said circuit pressing means from said power source to at least one of said other internal members.
- 4. The timepiece of claim 1, wherein said second frame includes additional bearing means formed integral therewith for supporting said timekeeping gear train.
- 5. The timepiece of claim 1, wherein the first frame is a main plate and the second frame is a gear train bridge.
- 6. The timepiece of claim 1, wherein the bias means includes at least one leaf spring.
- 7. The timepiece of claim 1, wherein said first frame includes integrally connected walls positioned proximate to the external circumference of the first frame and projecting toward said second frame for defining a spacing therebetween.
- 8. The timepiece of claim 1, further including casing means and wherein the first frame includes a plurality of laterally extending extensions lying in substantially the same plane as the first frame and in contact with the casing means whereby the first and second frames and plate means are positioned relative to the case means.
- 9. The timepiece of claim 1, wherein the first frame includes a plurality of protruding means extending towards and supporting the second frame.
- 10. The timepiece of claim 1, wherein the first frame includes portions having substantially planar surfaces.
- 11. The timepiece of claim 1, further including casing means and wherein the circuit pressing means further includes additional biasing means facing the case means and away from its first frame for positioning the assembled first and second frames and circuit pressing means relative to the casing means.
- 12. The timepiece of claim 11, wherein the casing means includes a back cover, said additional biasing means bearing on said back cover.
- 13. The timepiece of claim 1, wherein one of said first and second plates includes a further biasing means formed integrally therewith and further including a winding stem mechanism which is supported by said further biasing means at at least two positions of the winding stem mechanism when said winding stem mechanism is displaced along the first frame.
- 14. The timepiece of claim 13, and including at least one tab means formed in and projecting from one of said first and second frames and formed with an essentially U-shaped opening for receiving and guiding the winding stem mechanism in its displacement.
- 15. The timepiece of claim 14, wherein the frame including the tab means includes an essentially flat surface for supporting the winding stem mechanism in its displacement and cooperating with the U-shaped opening for guiding the winding stem mechanism in its displacement.
- 16. The timepiece of claim 15, wherein the frame including the tab means includes an elongated bead with an essentially flat surface formed therein for supporting the winding stem mechanism.
- 17. The timepiece of claim 13, wherein one of said first and second plates includes a further leaf spring bias means formed integrally therewith for applying holding force when deflected relative to a frame means and further including a winding stem mechanism which is supported by said further bias means at at least two positions of the winding stem mechanism when said winding stem mechanism is displaced along the first frame.
- 18. The timepiece of claim 1, wherein each of said first and second frames are formed as an integral sheet member incorporating a plurality of bias means including said first leaf spring, bias means for applying holding force when deflected relative to a frame means, protrusions, and bearing means formed integrally therewith by cutting and deformation as required to operatively position and retain the plurality of internal members supported therebetween.
- 19. The timepiece of claim 1, wherein at least one of said first and second frames is formed from a unitary sheet cut and deformed to define structural components thereof including bias means, bearing means, protrusions and strengthening means, said sheet being of a thickness not greater than 0.35 mm and made from a material chosen from the group including brass, phosphor bronze, beryllium-copper and SmBs.
- 20. A timepiece comprising:
- a first frame;
- a second frame spaced from said first frame;
- a plurality of internal members positioned intermediate said first and second frames;
- at least one of said first and second frames being formed from an integral plate of thin sheet metal deformed and cut to define at least bearings, strengthening portions and leaf spring bias means for supporting and positioning a portion of said internal members and means for defining a space between the frames,
- the other of said frames being formed from a thin sheet of metal deformed to define at least bearings and leaf spring means for supporting and positioning at least a portion of the internal members;
- said internal members including timekeeping gear means rotatably supported between said first and second frames by said bearings,
- said internal members further including a plurality of members involved in the powering of a timepiece including at least one means requiring electrical current; and each of said first and second frames having a first side and a second side, at least a part of the second side of said second frame facing a part of the side of said first frame;.
- circuit pressing means formed of metal and disposed in part facing a portion of the first side of said second frame and coupled to the second side of said first frame for retaining the first and second frames together, said circuit pressing means being formed of an electrically conductive material, at least a portion of the internal members involved in the powering of the timepiece including the means requiring electrical current being positioned and retained between said circuit pressing means and said first frame so that said circuit pressing means conducts current to said means requiring electric current, said circuit pressing means being shaped so as not to overlie the portions of said first and second frames supporting said timekeeping gear means.
