Claims
- 1. An in-wall mounting apparatus comprising:
an open face box having a backwall and a plurality of upstanding sidewalls, at least one of said sidewalls including an aperture therethrough; a spacer extending through said aperture, said spacer presenting a substantially flat first end and an opposed second end and having a bore therethrough, said spacer being adjustable between an extended position and a retracted position and said spacer being of sufficient length to contact a stud in the wall with said first end when in said extended position; and a fastener positioned in said bore and adapted to secure said box to the stud; an internally threaded spacer mount extending through said aperture and operable for threadable connection with said spacer; and a nut, said spacer mount presenting an exteriorly threaded region coupled with said hex nut.
- 2. The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising an adjustable nut threadably mounted on said spacer and operable for preventing rotation of said spacer within said spacer mount.
- 3. The apparatus of claim 1, said sidewalls including two pairs of opposing sidewalls.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 1, each of said sidewalls including at least one aperture therethrough.
- 5. The apparatus of claim 1, said backwall including an aperture therethrough.
- 6. The apparatus of claim 4, including a grommet positioned in at least one of said apertures.
- 7. The apparatus of claim 1, two of said sidewalls including a pair of apertures therethrough, said two sidewalls oriented in opposing fashion.
- 8. The apparatus of claim 7, further comprising:
a spacer extending through each of said apertures, said spacers having a bore therethrough and being adjustable between an extended position and a retracted position; and a fastener positioned in each bore.
- 9. The apparatus of claim 8, further comprising an aperture through another of said sidewalls, said aperture including a grommet therein.
- 10. The apparatus of claim 8, further comprising a threaded spacer mount positioned in each aperture.
- 11. The apparatus of claim 10, said spacer mount presenting a threaded internal bore.
- 12. The apparatus of claim 11, said spacer being cooperatively threaded with said threaded internal bore.
- 13. The apparatus of claim 12, further comprising a nut presenting a flanged portion mounted on said spacer mount.
- 14. The apparatus of claim 11, further comprising a rotatable nut positioned on said spacer.
- 15. The apparatus of claim 10, each of said spacers being threaded such that said spacer can be extended and retracted through said aperture by rotation about said threads.
- 16. A fixture apparatus comprising:
an internally threaded spacer mount presenting an exteriorly threaded portion and an opposed flange portion; a hex nut threadably coupled to said exteriorly threaded portion and presenting a flange portion and an opposed head; an elongate exteriorly threaded spacer threadably coupled with said spacer mount, said spacer presenting a bore therethrough, a head, and an opposed distal end; and a fastener operable for securing said apparatus to a surface, said fastener extending through said bore.
- 17. The apparatus of claim 16 further comprising a nut threadably coupled to said spacer.
- 18. A method of mounting the apparatus of claim 1 to wall studs comprising the steps of:
contacting at least one stud in the wall with at least one spacer; inserting a fastener through each said spacer; and securing each said fastener to the stud.
- 19. The method of claim 18 further comprising: cutting a hole in a wallboard covering said stud, said hole corresponding in size to said apparatus.
- 20. An assembly device for mounting items between adjacent studs in a wall, said device comprising:
an elongate body having a threaded bore therethrough; and a spacer threadably secured in said bore, said spacer presenting a first end and an opposed second end, said first end having a head and said second end presenting a substantially flat surface at the tip of said second end, said spacer being adjustable between an extended position wherein said second end tip contacts a stud in a wall and a retracted position wherein said second end tip does not contact a stud in a wall.
- 21. The device of claim 20, said spacer having a bore therethrough.
- 22. The device of claim 20, said body further including an exteriorly threaded region.
- 23. The device of claim 22, said device further comprising a nut threadably mounted on said exteriorly threaded region.
- 24. The device of claim 20, said body presenting a first end and an opposed second end, said first end presenting a head and said second end presenting a flanged tip.
- 25. The device of claim 20, said device further comprising a nut threadably mounted on said spacer.
- 26. The device of claim 21, said device further comprising a fastener positioned in said spacer bore.
