Claims
- 1. A method of making a label having an integral peelable coupon comprising:
applying a topcoat to a face of stock to obtain topcoated stock; curing said topcoated stock; webbing said topcoated stock through a press; printing on said topcoated stock; applying pressure sensitive laminating adhesive to said topcoated stock to obtain adhesive coated stock; curing said adhesive coated stock; nipping said adhesive coated stock to a base web to obtain a pre-finished base web; printing on said pre-finished base web; and, top coating said pre-finished base web with a topcoat to obtain a peelable coupon base web.
- 2. The method of claim 1 in which said peelable coupon base web comprises a plurality of labels having integral peelable coupons, said method further comprising cutting said peelable coupon base web.
- 3. The method of claim 2 further in which said cutting said peelable coupon base web further comprises die cutting said peelable coupon base web to obtain a plurality of said labels each having an integral peelable coupon.
- 4. The method of claim 1 in which said applying a topcoat to a face of stock to obtain topcoated stock comprises applying a plurality of topcoats to said face of stock.
- 5. The method of claim 4 in which said plurality of topcoats comprises two effective topcoats whereby said two layers split leaving one layer on said face and leaving the other layer to deaden the pressure sensitive laminating adhesive.
- 6. The method of claim 1 in which said topcoat is a UV topcoat.
- 7. The method of claim 1 in which said step of applying a topcoat further comprises applying a second topcoat to said stock in a separate coating procedure off-line from the initial topcoat.
- 8. The method of claim 1 in which said base web comprises UV pressure sensitive laminating adhesive.
- 9. The method of claim 1 in which said UV pressure sensitive laminating adhesive comprises a tacky UV pressure sensitive adhesive.
- 10. The method of claim 1 in which said curing said topcoated stock comprises curing said topcoat at an effective speed.
- 11. The method of claim 1 in which said applying UV pressure sensitive laminating adhesive to said topcoated stock to obtain adhesive coated stock further comprises applying said UV pressure sensitive laminating adhesive at a coating weight in the range of about 0.3 mil to about 0.6 mil.
- 12. The method of claim 1 in which said curing said adhesive coated stock further comprises curing said adhesive coated stock at an effective rate.
- 13. The method of claim 1 in which said top coating said pre-finished base web with a UV topcoat to obtain a peelable coupon base web further comprises top coating said pre-finished base web at a coating weight in the range of about 0.1 mil to about 0.3 mil.
- 14. The method of making an in-mold container comprising affixing the peelable coupon made by the method of claim 1 to said in-mold container.
- 15. The method of claim 5 in which said topcoat is a UV topcoat.
- 16. An in-mold method of manufacturing a blow molded bottle having a label with an integral peelable coupon comprising:
providing a parison; opening a mold having a cavity; picking at least one label having an integral peelable coupon thereon from a magazine; placing said label in said cavity; retaining said label in a predetermined position with an optional vacuum; closing said mold on said parison; blowing said parison into the mold to create a container; bonding said label to said container to create a peelable coupon container; and, opening said mold to release said peelable coupon container.
- 17. The method of claim 16 in which said label having an integral peelable coupon thereon is manufactured by the method of claim 1.
- 18. An in-mold manufactured container having a label with an integral peelable coupon.
- 19. The in-mold container of claim 18 in which said label with an integral peelable coupon comprises a label manufactured by the method of claim 1.
- 20. The in-mold container of claim 19 in which said label with an integral peelable coupon further comprises a printed, cured, topcoated stock layer; said topcoated stock layer having a cured, pressure sensitive, laminating, adhesive layer; said cured, pressure sensitive, laminating, adhesive layer being peelably connected to a base web; said base web having printing thereon and being coated with a topcoat.
- 21. The container of claim 20 in which said printed, cured topcoated stock layer further comprises a plurality of topcoats applied to a face of said stock layer.
- 22. The container of claim 22 in which said plurality of topcoats comprises two topcoats, whereby said two layers split leaving one layer on said face and leaving the other layer to deaden the pressure sensitive laminating adhesive layer.
- 23. The container of claim 21 in which said topcoat is a UV topcoat.
- 24. The container of claim 20 in which said base web comprises UV pressure sensitive laminating adhesive layer.
- 25. The container of claim 24 in which said UV pressure sensitive laminating adhesive layer comprises a tacky UV pressure sensitive adhesive.
- 26. The container of claim 18 in which said label further comprises a UV adhesive deadener layer having relatively low amounts of silicone, whereby better adhesion is provided.
- 27. The container of claim 24 in which said UV pressure sensitive laminating adhesive layer has a coating in the range of about 0.1 mil. to about 0.3 mil.
- 28. The container of claim 20 in which said base web has a coating in the range of about 0.3 mil. to about 0.6 mil.
- 29. A method of advertising using in-mold containers comprising presenting a plurality of in-mold manufactured container with a label having a peelable coupon thereon.
