Claims
- 1. An inflatable mattress comprising:
a support system comprising an upper and a lower inflatable support chamber arranged in a substantially vertical manner, each inflatable support chamber having a top layer, a bottom layer and a side gusset; and at least one inflatable stabilizing component, said stabilizing component being attached at said bottom layer of said lower inflatable support chamber, and being of a height less than the height of said lower inflatable support chamber.
- 2. The inflatable mattress of claim 1, wherein said stabilizing component is in fluid communication with said lower inflatable support chamber.
- 3. The inflatable mattress of claim 2, wherein said top layer of said lower inflatable support chamber is substantially aligned with said bottom layer of said upper inflatable support chamber.
- 4. The inflatable mattress of claim 3, wherein said upper inflatable support chamber is in fluid communication with said lower inflatable support chamber.
- 5. The inflatable mattress of claim 4, wherein said fluid communication is provided by an opening defined in said top layer of said lower inflatable support chamber substantially aligned with an opening defined in said bottom layer of said upper inflatable support chamber.
- 6. The inflatable mattress of claim 5, further comprising an inflatable reinforcing chamber, said inflatable reinforcing chamber being attached to said side gusset of at least one of said upper and said lower inflatable support chambers.
- 7. The inflatable mattress of claim 6, wherein said inflatable reinforcing chamber is in fluid communication with at least one of said upper and said lower inflatable support chambers.
- 8. An inflatable mattress comprising:
a support system comprising upper and lower inflatable support chambers being arranged in a substantially vertical manner, said top and bottom inflatable support chambers each having a top layer, a bottom layer and a side gusset; and an inflatable reinforcing chamber attached to said upper and said lower inflatable support chambers.
- 9. The inflatable mattress of claim 8, wherein said reinforcing chamber has a height less than the height of each of said upper and said lower inflatable support chambers.
- 10. The inflatable support system of claim 9, further comprising at least one inflatable stabilizing component attached at or near a bottom side of said lower inflatable support chamber.
- 11. The inflatable support system of claim 10, wherein said inflatable reinforcing chamber is in fluid communication with at least one of said upper and said lower inflatable support chambers.
- 12. The inflatable support system of claim 11, wherein said at least one inflatable stabilizing component is in fluid communication with said lower inflatable support chamber.
- 13. The inflatable support system of claim 12, wherein said upper inflatable support chamber is in fluid communication with said lower inflatable support chamber.
- 14. The inflatable support system of claim 12, further comprising at least two inflatable stabilizing components, wherein said inflatable stabilizing components are positioned on opposite sides of said lower inflatable support chamber.
- 15. The inflatable support system of claim 14, wherein said inflatable stabilizing components are of a height less than the height of each of said upper and said lower inflatable support chambers.
- 16. The inflatable support system of claim 15, wherein the sum total of the lengths of said inflatable stabilizing components is substantially equal to or greater than the length of a side of said lower inflatable support chamber.
- 17. The inflatable support system of claim 12, further comprising a plurality of inflatable stabilizing components.
- 18. The inflatable support system of claim 17, wherein said plurality of inflatable stabilizing components are in fluid communication with each other.
- 19. The inflatable support system of claim 18, wherein the sum total of the lengths of said inflatable stabilizing components is substantially equal to or greater than the length of a side of said lower inflatable support chamber.
- 20. The inflatable support system of claim 13, wherein said inflatable stabilizing component extends circumferentially around the perimeter of said lower inflatable support chamber.
- 21. An inflatable mattress comprising:
a support system comprising an upper and a lower inflatable support chamber arranged in a substantially vertical manner, each inflatable support chamber having a top layer, a bottom layer and a side gusset; and at least one inflatable stabilizing component, said stabilizing component being attached at said side gusset of said lower inflatable support chamber, and being of a height less than the height of said lower inflatable support chamber.
- 22. An inflatable mattress comprising:
a support system comprising two or more inflatable chambers, wherein each inflatable chamber comprises a plurality of elongated parallel channels that extend in a longitudinal direction and that are in fluid communication with one another; and at least one stabilizing component flexibly attached to said support system on one or more sides.
- 23. The inflatable mattress of claim 22, wherein said stabilizing component is of a height less than the height of said support system.
- 24. The inflatable mattress of claim 22, wherein said stabilizing component is inflatable and is in fluid communication with said support system.
- 25. The inflatable mattress of claim 22, wherein said stabilizing component comprises one or more separately inflatable chambers.
- 26. The inflatable mattress of claim 22, wherein said stabilizing component is attached to one or more sides of said support system.
- 27. The inflatable mattress of claim 22, wherein said stabilizing component is attached to the bottom of said support system.
- 28. The inflatable mattress of claim 22, wherein said stabilizing component chambers are in fluid communication with one another.
- 29. The inflatable mattress of claim 28, wherein said stabilizing component chambers are connected via at least one opening.
- 30. The inflatable mattress of claim 22, wherein said inflatable chambers are separately inflatable.
- 31. The inflatable mattress of claim 22, wherein said stabilizing component is connected to at least one of said inflatable chambers through a tube.
- 32. The inflatable mattress of claim 22, further comprising a reinforcing chamber attached to a side of said support system at a juncture between said inflatable chambers.
- 33. The inflatable mattress of claim 32, wherein said reinforcing chamber runs circumferentially around said support system.
- 34. An inflatable mattress comprising:
a support system comprising two or more inflatable chambers, wherein each inflatable chamber comprises a plurality of elongated parallel chambers that extend in a longitudinal direction and that are in fluid communication with one another; and a means for increasing the surface area across which weight added to said support system can be distributed.
- 35. The inflatable mattress of claim 34, wherein said means for increasing the surface area across which weight added to said support system can be distributed is a stabilizing component of a height less than the height of said support system.
- 36. The inflatable mattress of claim 35, wherein said stabilizing component is flexibly attached to one or more sides of said support system.
- 37. The inflatable mattress of claim 35, wherein said stabilizing component is a plurality of stabilizers that are in fluid communication with said inflatable chambers.
- 38. The inflatable mattress of claim 35, wherein said stabilizing component is a plurality of stabilizers that are separately inflatable from each other.
