Claims
- 1. An indole derivative represented by the formula (I): wherein R1 represents C1-C5 alkyl, C4-C6 cycloalkylalkyl, C5-C7 cycloalkenylalkyl, aryl, C1-C3 aralkyl, C4-C5 trans-alkenyl, allyl, C1-C3 furan-2-ylalkyl or C1-C3 thiophene-2-ylalkyl;R2 represents hydrogen, hydroxy, C1-C5 alkanoyloxy or C1-C5 alkoxy; R3 represents hydrogen, C1-C5 alkyl, C1-C5 alkanoyl or benzyl; R4 represents hydrogen, C1-C5 alkyl or benzyl; R5 and R6 are bonded and cooperatively represent C3-C6 alkylene with the proviso that one or more hydrogen atoms in the alkylene moiety may be substituted with R10 wherein R10 represents C1-C5 alkyl, C1-C5 alkoxy, C1-C5 alkanoyl, C1-C5 hydroxyalkyl, SR7, SOR7, SO2R7 (CH2)mCO2R7, SO2NR8R9, CONR8R9, or (CH2)nNR8R9 wherein m, represents an integer of 0-3, n represents an integer of 1-3, R7 represents C1-C5 alkyl, R8 and R9, the same or different, represent C1-C5 alkyl, or C4-C6 cycloalkylalkyl, and which R5 and R6 are bonded to carbon atoms adjacent to each other on the benzene ring to form a ring; and pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts thereof.
- 2. A pharmaceutical composition comprising an effective amount of a compound according to claim 1; and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
- 3. The compound or acid addition salts according to claim 1, wherein R1 is C4-C6 cycloalkylalkyl.
- 4. A method of immunosuppressing a patient which comprises administering to a patient in need thereof an effective immunosuppressive amount of the compound according to claim 1.
- 5. A method of treating allergies which comprises administering to a patient in need thereof an effective antiallergic amount of the compound according to claim 1.
- 6. A method of treating inflammation which comprises administering to a patient in need thereof an effective anti-inflammatory amount of the compound according to claim 1.
- 7. A method of protecting brain cells from cytotoxic damage which comprises administering to a patient in need thereof, and effective brain cell-protecting from cytotoxic damage amount of the compound according to claim 1.
