Claims
- 1. Food temperature control apparatus comprising:
a food-holding container including a ferromagnetic induction heating element; a magnetic induction heater including a magnetic field generator for generating a magnetic field, said heater including a resonant circuit having an induction coil; said heater operable to heat said element when the element is magnetically coupled with said magnetic field; and a temperature controller for controlling the temperature of said element about a regulation temperature of the element, said controller including a sensor coupled with said resonant circuit and operable for determining two or more parameters of said resonant circuit related to the amplitude of the resonant current passing through the resonant circuit during heating of said element, said controller operable to alter the field strength of said magnetic field when at least one of said parameters is above or below a respective selected value correlated with said regulation temperature, said heating element being housed within an enclosed tray, said tray located within said container.
- 2. The apparatus of claim 1, there being heat insulation disposed about said element within said tray.
- 3. The apparatus of claim 1, the base of said tray below said heating element having a metallized film disposed therebetween.
- 4. Food temperature control apparatus comprising:
a food-holding container including a ferromagnetic induction heating element; a magnetic induction heater including a magnetic field generator for generating a magnetic field, said heater including a resonant circuit having an induction coil; said heater operable to heat said element when the element is magnetically coupled with said magnetic field; and a temperature controller for controlling the temperature of said element about a regulation temperature of the element, said controller including a sensor coupled with said resonant circuit and oeprable for determining two or more parameters of said resonant circuit related to the amplitude of the resonant current passing through the resonant circuit during heating of said element, said controller operable to alter the field strength of said magnetic field when at least one of said parameters is above or below a respective selected value correlated with said regulation temperature, said element affixed to a base plate, said interconnected base plate and element being located within said container.
- 5. The apparatus of claim 4, including a metallized film situated between said interconnected base plate and heating element.
- 6. A food delivery assembly comprising:
a container adapted to receive and hold food; and a ferromagnetic heating element carried by said container and heatable when coupled with an externally applied magnetic field, while said element remains a part of said container, there being a base plate secured to said element, said base plate and element being carried by said container.
- 7. A food delivery assembly comprising:
a container adapted to receive and hold food; and a ferromagnetic heating element carried by said container and heatable when coupled with an externally applied magnetic field, while said element remains a part of said container, said heating element located within an enclosed tray, said tray being carried by said container.
- 8. The assembly of claim 7, including thermal insulation disposed about said element within said tray.
- 9. In a magnetic induction heater having a generally flat surface adapted to receive a ferromagnetic heating element for heating of the latter, the improvement which comprises upstanding wall structure disposed about at least a portion of the periphery of said surface for locating and maintaining said heating element on the surface.
- 10. The heater of claim 9, said wall structure including a back wall and opposed sidewalls.
