Claims
- 1. An apparatus for bonding pipes:
- a first pipe;
- a second pipe to be joined to the first pipe;
- a susceptor coated with an adhesive material placed between the first and second pipes;
- means for inducing a magnetic flux onto the susceptor.
- 2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the second pipe is a coupler.
- 3. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the means for inducing a magnetic flux is a tank circuit.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the susceptor is a perforated metal ring.
- 5. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the adhesive material is a plastic, thermoplastic or thermoset.
- 6. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the susceptor is a wire coil.
- 7. The apparatus of claim 6 wherein the wire coil is a coated with a material compatible with the first and second pipes.
- 8. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the means for inducing a magnetic flux is an induction heating gun.
- 9. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the means for inducing a magnetic flux is an induction heating gun having a hinged heating head.

Pursuant to 35 U.S.C. .sctn.119, the benefit of priority from provisional application 60/015,968, with a filing date of Apr. 3, 1996, is claimed for this non-provisional application.
ORIGIN OF THE INVENTION
The invention described herein was jointly made by employees of the U.S. Government and employees of the Inductron Corporation and may be manufactured and used by or for the Government for governmental purposes without the payment of any royalties thereon or therefor.
