- 16. The base of claim 15, wherein said opening in said lock arm has a shape corresponding to a cross-sectional shape of said first rail.
- 17. The base of claim 16, further comprising an actuator connected to said main body, said actuator contacting a second end of said lock arm when said actuator is deflected to pivot said lock arm from said locked position to said unlocked position.
- 18. An apparatus, comprising:
a base, comprising:
a main body; and a connection bracket extending from said main body, said connection bracket comprising a first side wall having a first slot therein, a first pawl pivotably connected adjacent said first side wall, a biasing member biasing said first pawl towards said first slot, a second side wall spaced apart from said first side wall and having a second slot therein, a second pawl pivotably connected adjacent said second side wall, and a second biasing member biasing said second pawl towards said second slot; and an infant car seat, comprising:
a seat shell; and a rod extending through said seat shell, said rod extending into said first and second slots when said car seat is situated on said base, said first and second pawls extending over said rod to lock said car seat to said base.
- 19. The apparatus of claim 18, wherein a curved slot is provided in each of said first and second side walls for passage of a vehicle seat belt.
- 20. The apparatus of claim 18, said car seat further comprising a release handle movably connected to said seat shell, said release handle contacting said first and second pawls as said handle is moved to pivot said pawls away from said rod and allow said rod to be removed from said first and second slots.
