Claims
- 1. A massage device for use in an unsupervised and unattended setting, the massage device comprising:
an inflatable garment having a plurality of inflation bladders to apply pressure to a body part; and an inflation assembly for providing pressurized fluid to the bladders, the inflation assembly including a manifold into which the pressurized fluid flows and a manifold valve for controlling a maximum pressure level within the bladders.
- 2. A massage device for use in an unsupervised and unattended setting, the massage device comprising:
an inflatable garment having a plurality of inflation bladders to apply pressure to a body part; an inflation assembly for providing pressurized fluid to the bladders; and a connector for connecting tubes from the bladders to the inflation assembly, wherein the connector includes a garment-identifying component for identifying the type of garment connected to the inflation assembly.
- 3. A massage device as set forth in claim 2, wherein the inflation assembly comprises a housing which includes a mating portion which mates with the connector.
- 4. A massage device as set forth in claim 3, wherein the garment-identifying component includes at least one identifier post, and wherein the mating portion includes at least one identifier opening corresponding to the identifier post such that the identifier post is received within the opening when the connector mates with the mating portion.
- 5. A massage device as set forth in claim 4, wherein the number of identifier posts determines the type of garment connected to the inflation assembly.
- 6. A massage device as set forth in claim 4, wherein the arrangement of identifier posts determines the type of garment connected to the inflation assembly.
- 7. A massage device as set forth in claim 4, wherein the number and arrangement of identifier posts determines the type of garment connected to the inflation assembly.
- 8. A massage device for use in an unsupervised and unattended setting, the massage device comprising:
an inflatable garment having a plurality of inflatable bladders to apply pressure to a body part, the inflatable bladders being arranged in one of a plurality of different arrays; and an inflation assembly for providing pressurized fluid to the bladders, the inflation assembly having a predetermined inflation capacity defining a maximum bladder size.
- 9. A massage device as set forth in claim 8 wherein the one of a plurality of different arrays is selected based on the predetermined inflation capacity.
- 10. A massage device for use in an unsupervised and unattended setting, the massage device comprising:
an inflatable garment having a plurality of inflatable bladders, wherein the inflatable garment is shaped to accommodate a back and shoulder portion of a user and includes a central opening to accommodate a neck of the user; and an inflation assembly for supplying pressurized fluid to each of the inflatable bladders.
- 11. A massage device as set forth in claim 10 wherein the inflatable garment further includes a plurality of inserts adjacent to the user's neck, and an elastic material along longitudinal edges of the garment.
- 12. A massage device as set forth in claim 10 wherein the inflatable garment further includes a pressure plate generally shaped to contour the back and shoulder portion, and straps to assist in holding the pressure plate in place.
- 13. An inflatable garment for use in association with an inflation assembly, said garment comprising:
a plurality of inflation bladders to apply pressure to a body part; and a connector for connecting tubes from the bladders to the inflation assembly, wherein the connector includes a garment-identifying component for identifying the type of garment connected to the inflation assembly.
- 14. An inflatable garment as set forth in claim 13, wherein the garment-identifying component includes at least one identifier post, such that the identifier post may be received within an opening of the inflation assembly.
- 15. An inflatable garment as set forth in claim 14, wherein the number of identifier posts determines the type of garment to be connected to the inflation assembly.
- 16. An inflatable garment as set forth in claim 14, wherein the arrangement of identifier posts determines the type of garment to be connected to the inflation assembly.
- 17. An inflatable garment as set forth in claim 14, wherein the number and arrangement of identifier posts determines the type of garment to be connected to the inflation assembly.
- 18. An inflatable garment shaped to accommodate a back and shoulder portion of a user, for use in association with an inflation assembly, the inflatable garment comprising:
a plurality of inflatable bladders; and a central opening to accommodate a neck of the user.
- 19. An inflatable garment as set forth in claim 18 further including a plurality of inserts adjacent to the user's neck, and an elastic material along longitudinal edges of the garment.
- 20. An inflatable garment as set forth in claim 18 further including a pressure plate generally shaped to contour the back and shoulder portion, and straps to assist in holding the pressure plate in place.
- 21. A connector for use in association with a massage device comprising a garment-identifying component for identifying a type of inflation garment to be utilized.
- 22. A connector as set forth in claim 21, wherein the garment-identifying component includes at least one identifier post, such that the identifier post may be received within an opening of an inflation assembly.
- 23. A connector as set forth in claim 22, wherein the number of identifier posts determines the type of garment to be utilized.
- 24. A connector as set forth in claim 22, wherein the arrangement of identifier posts determines the type of garment to be utilized.
- 25. A connector as set forth in claim 22, wherein the number and arrangement of identifier posts determines the type of garment to be utilized.
