Claims
- 1. A catamenial device for insertion into a vaginal canal having a wall, comprising:
an inflatable member to seal the vaginal canal upon inflation, and pneumatic source means of inflation substantially housed within said inflatable member to inflate said inflatable member.
- 2. The device of claim 1 further comprising body means for collection of menstrual blood or organic fluids.
- 3. The device of claim I wherein said body means for collection of menstrual blood has a depressed surface.
- 4. The device of claim 1 wherein said body means for collection of menstrual blood has a generally concave shape.
- 5. The device of claim 1 wherein said body means for collection of menstrual blood is generally cup-shaped.
- 6. The device of claim 2 wherein said body means for collection of menstrual blood is a non inflatable reservoir.
- 7. The device of claim I wherein said inflatable member is substantially fluid impermeable.
- 8. The device of claim I wherein said inflatable member comprises substantially non-compliant material.
- 9. The device of claim I wherein said inflatable member comprises substantially compliant material.
- 10.The device of claim I wherein said pneumatic source means for inflation comprises components chemically reacting to produce a gas, said components being contained within said inflatable member.
- 11. The device of claim I wherein said inflatable member is deflatable for removal from the vaginal canal.
- 12. The device of claim 11 wherein said inflatable member is deflatable upon traction exerted upon a string resulting with deflation of said inflatable member.
- 13. The device of claim I further comprising a vaginal absorbent member.
- 14. The device of claim 1 wherein said inflatable member is an inflatable tube arranged in coils to form a wall delimiting a menstrual blood collecting cavity.
- 15. The device of claim 14 further comprising a vaginal absorbent member.
