Claims
- 1. The method of protecting a limb of the human body, comprising surrounding the limb with a cover comprising a sheet of material that is permeable to water vapor which is substantially impermeable to air, said sheet having a water vapor transmission rate from 50 to 400 g/m.sup.2.d, and securing said cover to said limb.
- 2. A method as claimed in claim 1, and inflating the cover with air, the cover being impermeable to air to the extent of sustaining an inflated state by virtue of air pressure alone.
- 3. A method as claimed in claim 1, and evacuating the cover after the cover is applied to the limb of the user.
- 4. A method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the cover is in the form of a sheath open at one end, and said securement to the limb of the user is effected at said one end.
- 5. A method as claimed in claim 1, wherein said material has a water vapor transmission rate in the range of 100-300 g/m.sup.2.d.
- 6. A method as claimed in claim 1, wherein said material has a water vapor transmission rate of about 200 g/m.sup.2 d.
- 7. A method as claimed in claim 1, wherein said material is a polyurethane film.
- 8. A method as claimed in claim 7, wherein the polyurethane film is a thermoplastic polyester urethane elastomer film.
- 9. A method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the thickness of said material lies in the range of 25 .mu.m to 100 .mu.m.
- 10. A method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the thickness of said material lies in the range from 50 .mu.m to 80 .mu.Am.
- 11. The method of protecting a part of the human or animal body, comprising surrounding said part with a cover comprising a sheet of material that is permeable to water vapor but which is substantially impermeable to air, and securing said cover to said part.
- 12. The method as claimed in claim 11, which further includes the step of at least partially inflating the volume defined between said cover and said body part.
- 13. A protective cover for a part of a human or animal body, comprising a sheet of material that is permeable to water vapor but which is substantially impermeable to air, said sheet surrounding said part, and means securing said cover to said part.
- 14. A protective cover as claimed in claim 13 wherein the cover is in the form of a sheath open at one end, and said securing means is located at said one end.
- 15. A protective cover as claimed in claim 13 said sheath having a water vapor transmission rate from 50 to 400 g/m.sup.2.d.
