Claims
- 1. An information recording medium comprising an area for storing at least one video object and an area for storing management information, wherein:the video object includes a video stream which is obtained by coding a video signal, a first audio stream which is obtained by coding an audio signal and a second audio stream which is obtained by coding an audio signal; the management information includes: status information, the status information indicating whether or not the second audio stream is provided for after-recording operation, and whether or not the after-recording data is recorded to the second audio stream when the second audio stream is provided for after-recording operation; bit rate of the first audio stream and bit rate of the second audio stream; and coding mode of the first audio stream and coding mode of the second audio stream; wherein when the second audio stream is provided for after recording, the second audio stream has the same bit rate and the same coding mode as the first audio stream.
- 2. An information recording apparatus for performing after-recording to the second audio stream included in the video object stored on the information recording medium according to claim 1, the apparatus comprising:checking section for checking in advance whether or not the apparatus is operable to perform after-recording to the second audio stream based on at least the status information and the bit rate included in the management information before the after-recording operation; and starting section for starting after-recording operation when it is decided by the checking section that the apparatus is operable to perform after recording to the second audio stream.
- 3. The apparatus according to claim 2, wherein the checking section comprises:a first determining section for determining whether or not the second audio stream is in a status where the after-recording operation can be done with reference to the status information of the second audio stream included in the management information; a second determining section for determining whether or not the apparatus is able to encode the second audio stream with reference to the bit rate of the second audio stream included in the management information; and a third determining section for determining that the apparatus is able to perform after-recording when it is determined that the second audio stream is in the status where the after-recording operation can be done and that the apparatus is able to encode the second audio stream.
- 4. The apparatus according to claim 3, wherein when the management information further comprises the number of audio streams included in the video object, the first determining section makes the determination with reference to the number of audio streams in addition to the status information.
- 5. The apparatus according to claim 3, wherein when the management information further comprises coding mode of the second audio stream, the second determining section determines whether or not the apparatus can encode the second audio stream with reference to the coding mode of the second audio stream in addition to the bit rate of the second audio stream.
- 6. The apparatus according to claim 3, wherein the checking section further comprises a notifying section for notifying a user that after-recording operation is impossible when the third determining section determines that the apparatus is not able to perform after-recording.
- 7. A method for performing after-recording to the second audio stream recorded on the recording medium according to claim 1 by using a recording apparatus, the method comprising:checking in advance whether or not the apparatus is operable to perform after-recording to the second audio stream based on at least the status information and the bit rate included in the management information before the after-recording operation; and starting after-recording operation when it is decided by the checking that the apparatus is operable to perform after-recording to the second audio stream.
- 8. The method according to claim 7, wherein the checking comprises:first determining whether or not the second audio stream is in a status where the after-recording operation can be done with reference to the status information of the second audio stream included in the management information; second determining whether or not the apparatus is able to encode the second audio stream with reference to the bit rate of the second audio stream included in the management information; and third determining that the apparatus is able to perform after-recording when it is determined that the second audio stream is in the status where the after-recording operation can be done and that the apparatus is able to encode the second audio stream.
- 9. The method according to claim 8, wherein when the management information further comprises the number of audio streams included in the video object, the first determining makes the determination with reference to the number of audio streams in addition to the status information.
- 10. The method according to claim 8, wherein when the management information further comprises coding mode of the second audio stream, the second determining determines whether or not the apparatus can encode the second audio stream with reference to the coding mode of the second audio stream in addition to the bit rate of the second audio stream.
- 11. The method according to claim 8, wherein the checking further comprises notifying a user that after-recording operation is impossible when by the third determining it is determined that the apparatus is not able to perform after-recording.
- 12. An information recording apparatus for performing after-recording to the second audio stream included in the video object stored on the information recording medium according to claim 1, the apparatus comprising:first extracting means for extracting status information, the status information indicating whether or not the second audio stream is provided for an after-recording operation and further indicating whether or not after-recording data is recorded to the second audio stream when the second audio stream is provided for after-recording operation; second extracting means for extracting bit rate of the second audio stream; third extracting means for extracting coding mode of the second audio stream; checking section for checking in advance whether or not the apparatus is operable to perform after-recording to the second audio stream based on at least the status information and the bit rate included in the management information before the after-recording operation; and starting section for starting after-recording operation when it is decided by the checking section that the apparatus is operable to perform after-recording to the second audio stream; wherein each video object includes a video stream which is obtained by coding a video signal, a first audio stream which is obtained by coding an audio signal and a second audio stream which is obtained by coding an audio signal; wherein the status information, the bit rate and the coding mode are included in the management information; wherein the second extracting means is provided for extracting bit rate of the first audio stream, and the third extracting means is provided for extracting coding mode of the first audio stream; and wherein when the second audio stream is provided for after-recording, the first audio stream has the same bit rate and the same coding mode as the second audio stream.
- 13. A method for performing after-recording to the second audio stream recorded on the recording medium according to claim 1 by using a recording apparatus, the method comprising:extracting status information, the status information indicating whether or not the second audio stream is provided for an after-recording operation and further indicating whether or not after-recording data is recorded to the second audio stream when the second audio stream is provided for after-recording operation; extracting bit rate of the second audio stream; extracting coding mode of the second audio stream; checking in advance whether or not the apparatus is operable to perform after-recording to the second audio stream based on at least the status information and the bit rate included in the management information before the after-recording operation; starting after-recording operation when it is decided by the checking that the apparatus is operable to perform after-recording to the second audio stream; wherein each video object includes a video stream which is obtained by coding a video signal, a first audio stream which is obtained by coding an audio signal and a second audio stream which is obtained by coding an audio signal; and wherein the status information, the bit rate and the coding mode are included in the management information; extracting bit rate of the first audio stream; and extracting coding mode of the first audio stream and coding mode of the second audio stream; wherein when the second audio stream is provided for after-recording, the first audio stream has the same bit rate.
- 14. A reproduction apparatus for reproducing information recorded in the information recording medium according to claim 1.
- 15. An information recording medium comprising:an area operable to store at least one video object and an area operable to store management information; wherein the video object comprises a video stream which is obtained by coding a video signal, a first audio stream which is obtained by coding an audio signal, and a second audio stream which is obtained by coding an audio signal; wherein the management information comprises: status information, the status information operable to indicate whether or not the second audio stream is provided for an after-recording operation, and operable to indicate whether or not the after-recording data is recorded to the second audio stream when the second audio stream is provided for the after-recording operation; bit rate of the first audio stream and bit rate of the second audio stream; and coding mode of the first audio stream and coding mode of the second audio stream; wherein when the second audio stream is provided for the after-recording operation, the second audio stream has the same bit rate and the same coding mode as the first audio stream.
- 16. An information recording apparatus for performing after-recording to the second audio stream included in the video object stored on the information recording medium according to claim 15, said information recording apparatus comprising:checking section operable to check in advance whether or not said information recording apparatus is operable to perform after-recording to the second audio stream based on at least the status information and the bit rate included in the management information before the after-recording operation; and starting section operable to start an after-recording operation when it is decided by said checking section that said information recording apparatus is operable to perform after-recording to the second audio stream.
- 17. An information recording apparatus as claimed in claim 16, wherein said checking section comprises:a first determining section operable to determine whether or not the second audio stream is in a status where the after-recording operation can be performed with reference to the status information of the second audio stream included in the management information; a second determining section operable to determine whether or not said information recording apparatus is able to encode the second audio stream with reference to the bit rate of the second audio stream included in the management information; and a third determining section operable to determine that said information recording apparatus is able to perform after-recording when it is determined that the second audio stream is in the status where the after-recording operation can be performed and that said information recording apparatus is able to encode the second audio stream.
- 18. An information recording apparatus according to claim 17, wherein when the management information further comprises the number of audio streams included in the video object, said first determining section is operable to make the determination with reference to the number of audio streams in addition to the status information.
- 19. An information recording apparatus as claimed in claim 17, wherein said second determining section is operable to determine whether or not said information recording apparatus can encode the second audio stream with reference to the coding mode of the second audio stream in addition to the bit rate of the second audio stream.
- 20. An information recording apparatus as claimed in claim 17, wherein said checking section further comprises a notifying section operable to notify a user that the after-recording operation is impossible when said third determining section determines that said information recording apparatus is not able to perform after-recording.
- 21. A method for performing after-recording to the second audio stream recorded on the information recording medium according to claim 15 by using a recording apparatus, said method comprising:checking in advance whether or not the recording apparatus is operable to perform after-recording to the second audio stream based on at least the status information and the bit rate included in the management information before the after-recording operation; and starting the after-recording operation when it is decided by said checking that the recording apparatus is operable to perform after-recording to the second audio stream.
- 22. A method as claimed in claim 21, wherein said checking comprises:first determining whether or not the second audio stream is in a status where the after-recording operation can be performed with reference to the status information of the second audio stream included in the management information; second determining whether or not the recording apparatus is able to encode the second audio stream with reference to the bit rate of the second audio stream included in the management information; and third determining that the recording apparatus is able to perform after-recording when it is determined that the second audio stream is in the status where the after-recording operation can be performed and that the recording apparatus is able to encode the second audio stream.
- 23. A method as claimed in claim 22, wherein when the management information further comprises the number of audio streams included in the video object, said first determining makes the determination with reference to the number of audio streams in addition to the status information.
- 24. A method as claimed in claim 22, wherein said second determining is operable to determine whether or not the recording apparatus can encode the second audio stream with reference to the coding mode of the second audio stream in addition to the bit rate of the second audio stream.
- 25. A method as claimed in claim 22, wherein said checking further comprises notifying a user that the after-recording operation is impossible when by said third determining it is determined that the recording apparatus is not able to perform after-recording.
- 26. An information recording apparatus for performing after-recording to the second audio stream included in the video object stored on the information recording medium according to claim 15, said information recording apparatus comprising:first extracting device operable to extract status information, the status information operable to indicate whether or not the second audio stream is provided for an after-recording operation and further operable to indicate whether or not after-recording data is recorded to the second audio stream when the second audio stream is provided for after-recording operation; second extracting device operable to extract bit rate of the second audio stream; third extracting device operable to extract coding mode of the second audio stream; checking section operable to check in advance whether or not said information recording apparatus is operable to perform after-recording to the second audio stream based on at least the status information and the bit rate included in the management information before the after-recording operation; and starting section operable to start the after-recording operation when it is decided by said checking section that said information recording apparatus is operable to perform after-recording to the second audio stream; wherein each video object comprises a video stream which is obtained by coding a video signal, a first audio stream which is obtained by coding an audio signal, and a second audio stream which is obtained by coding an audio signal; wherein the status information, the bit rate, and the coding mode are included in the management information; wherein said second extracting device is provided to extract bit rate of the first audio stream, and said third extracting device is provided to extract coding mode of the first audio stream; and wherein when the second audio stream is provided for after-recording, the first audio stream has the same bit rate and the same coding mode as the second audio stream.
- 27. A method for performing after-recording to the second audio stream recorded on the information recording medium according to claim 15 by using a recording apparatus, said method comprising:extracting status information, the status information operable to indicate whether or not the second audio stream is provided for an after-recording operation and further operable to indicate whether or not after-recording data is recorded to the second audio stream when the second audio stream is provided for the after-recording operation; extracting bit rate of the second audio stream; extracting coding mode of the second audio stream; checking in advance whether or not the recording apparatus is operable to perform afterrecording to the second audio stream based on at least the status information and the bit rate included in the management information before the after-recording operation; starting the after-recording operation when it is decided by said checking that the recording apparatus is operable to perform after-recording to the second audio stream; wherein each video object includes a video stream which is obtained by coding a video signal, a first audio stream which is obtained by coding an audio signal, and a second audio stream which is obtained by coding an audio signal; wherein the status information, the bit rate, and the coding mode are included in the management information; extracting bit rate of the first audio stream; and extracting coding mode of the first audio stream and coding mode of the second audio stream; wherein when the second audio stream is provided for the after-recording, the first audio stream has the same bit rate.
- 28. A reproduction apparatus for reproducing information recorded in the information recording medium according to claim 15.
