Claims
- 1. A device for pumping fluid, comprising:
- a disposable administration set, comprising at least one follower;
- a delivery tube disposed adjacent said follower;
- a rotatable cam shaft including an actuator, said actuator adjacent said follower, said actuator including a first portion selectively contacting said follower to force said follower to squeeze a portion of said delivery tube and a second portion selectively contacting said tube; and
- a detection pin mounted on and rotatable with said rotatable cam shaft.
- 2. The device of claim 1, further comprising a motor selectively reciprocating said actuator, wherein said reciprocation of said actuator brings said first portion into contact with said follower and said second portion into contact with said tube.
- 3. The device of claim 1, wherein said device further includes a housing, said housing including a channel for slidably receiving said disposable administration set, said housing further including a spring.
- 4. The device of claim 1, wherein said disposable administration set further includes a plate assembly to which said follower is attached.
- 5. The device of claim 4, wherein said follower is of unitary construction, further including a hinge to connect said follower to said plate assembly.
- 6. The device of claim 1, wherein fluid is delivered at a uniform rate.
- 7. The device of claim 1, further including a device for detecting an occlusion in a fluid path.
- 8. The device of claim 7, further including a control system and a memory.
- 9. A device for pumping fluid, comprising:
- a disposable administration set, including a follower and a gap correction spacer;
- a rotatable cam shaft including an actuator adjacent said follower;
- a detection pin mounted on and rotatable with said rotatable cam shaft;
- a delivery tube disposed adjacent said follower;
- a fluid reservoir in fluid communication with said delivery tube;
- a pumping mechanism operatively connected to said follower;
- a motor for selectively reciprocating said actuator, said motor operatively connected to said pumping mechanism; and
- a housing in slidable engagement with said disposable administration set.
- 10. The device of claim 9, wherein said actuator includes a first portion selectively contacting said follower and a second portion selectively contacting said delivery tube.
- 11. The device of claim 9, wherein said housing includes a channel for slidably receiving said disposable administration set, said housing further including a spring.
- 12. The device of claim 9, wherein said disposable administration set further includes a plate assembly to which said follower is attached.
- 13. The device of claim 12, wherein said follower is of unitary construction, further including a hinge to connect said follower to said plate assembly.
- 14. The device of claim 9, wherein fluid is delivered at a uniform rate.
- 15. The device of claim 9, further including a device for detecting an occlusion in a fluid path.
- 16. The device of claim 15, further including a control system and a memory.
