Claims
- 1. A core assembly for blow molding apparatus comprising
- a core element having an axis,
- a core mounting base,
- a plurality of neck mold sections disposed about the core element,
- means for causing the neck mold sections to move simultaneously longitudinally and transversely with respect to the core element axis, said means including a plurality of hollow pins angularly fixedly mounted on the core mounting base and neck mold section mounting means slideably mounted on the pins, means forming a fluid seal between the pins and the neck mold section mounting means, and means for supplying fluid under pressure through the hollow pins to react on said neck mold section mounting means to thereby effect said simultaneous longitudinal and transverse movement of said neck mold sections with respect to said core element axis.
- 2. A core assembly as in claim 1 and further including stop means for limiting movement of the neck mold sections.
- 3. A core assembly according to claim 2 wherein the neck mold section mounting means include means for engaging the stop means.
- 4. A core assembly as in claim 1 and further including means for circulating a heat transfer fluid in said core mounting base for maintaining the neck mold sections at a desired temperature.
- 5. A core assembly as in claim 4 wherein the fluid circulation means includes a conduit for circulating heat transfer fluid, and inlet and outlet means in the core mounting base for providing a flow of heat transfer fluid in a conduit.
- 6. A core assembly for blow molding apparatus comprising
- a core element having a longitudinal axis,
- a core mounting base,
- partible neck mold sections surrounding the core element,
- neck mold section mounting means associated with each neck mold section,
- slideably mounting means forming a surface angularly disposed with respect to the longitudinal axis of the core element slideably receiving the neck mold sections for movement both longitudinally and transversely relative to said axis,
- and motor means for moving the neck mold section mounting means on the slideably mounting means, the primary direction of travel of the motor means being normal to the longitudinal axis of the core element.
- 7. A core assembly as in claim 6 wherein the motor means is mounted in the core mounting base.
- 8. A core assembly according to claim 6 wherein the motor means is a fluid motor.
- 9. A core assembly according to claim 8 wherein the fluid motor comprises a piston slideably mounted in a cavity in the core mounting base and wherein a portion of the piston slideably engages the neck mold section mounting means.
