Claims
- 1. An ink jet cartridge for recording, said cartridge comprising:
- a recording head having a substrate, a head portion provided with a discharge port surface on said substrate, and a discharge port provided on said discharge port surface, said substrate having a leading end line;
- an ink tank having a substantially rectangular parallelopipedal shape and being capable of containing ink therein, said ink tank having a front surface, a side surface, and an opposing surface opposed to said side surface, said recording head being disposed on the side surface of the ink tank, said opposing surface having a front end line; and
- a plurality of positioning portions provided on and protecting from the substrate of said head and a part of said ink tank,
- wherein the positioning portions project only within a space enclosed by a plane, the front surface of the ink tank, and the substrate, and the leading end line of the substrate of said recording head and the front end line of the surface opposed to the side surface or said ink tank on which said recording head is disposed lie in the plane.
- 2. An ink jet cartridge according to claim 1, wherein the positioning portions cooperatively limit the position of the cartridge upon termination of mounting the cartridge to said recording apparatus.
- 3. An ink jet cartridge according to claim 1, said ink tank further having a surface opposed to the part and an engaging section which mounts said ink tank to a carriage on said surface opposed to the part.
- 4. An ink jet cartridge comprising:
- a recording head, said recording head having a substrate, a head portion having a discharge port surface on said substrate, and a discharge port provided on said discharge port surface, a part of said substrate being provided with a first positioning portion projecting from said substrate, said substrate having a leading end line; and
- an ink tank, said ink tank having a substantially rectangular parallelopipedal shape and being capable of containing ink therein, said ink tank having said recording head disposed on a part thereof, a front surface parallel to the discharge port surface of said recording head, an opposing surface opposed to said part, and a second positioning portion provided on said front surface of said ink tank, said opposing surface having a front end line,
- wherein said first positioning portion and said second positioning portion project only within a space enclosed by a plane, said front surface of the ink tank, and said substrate, and the leading end line of the substrate of said recording head and a front end line of said opposing surface to said part on which said ink tank has said recording head lie in the plane.
- 5. An ink jet cartridge according to claim 4, said ink tank further having a surface opposed to the front surface and an engaging section which mounts said ink tank to a carriage on said surface opposed to the front surface.
