Ink jet composition

Abstract
The invention provides an inkjet ink composition comprising: a white pigment; a polymerizable compound; and a polymerization initiator. The white pigment includes at least one of inorganic hollow particles or inorganic-organic hybrid hollow particles. A ratio of an average inside diameter of cavities in the at least one of inorganic hollow particles or inorganic-organic hybrid hollow particles to an average outside diameter of the at least one of inorganic hollow particles or inorganic-organic hybrid hollow particles is in a range of from 0.4 to 0.95. Further, a volume average particle diameter of the at least one of inorganic hollow particles or inorganic-organic hybrid hollow particles is in a range of from 0.01 to 1.0 μm.
Description
Claims
  • 1. An inkjet ink composition comprising: a white pigment; a polymerizable compound; and a polymerization initiator, wherein the white pigment comprises at least one of inorganic hollow particles or inorganic-organic hybrid hollow particles.
  • 2. The inkjet ink composition according to claim 1, wherein a ratio of an average inside diameter of cavities in the at least one of inorganic hollow particles or inorganic-organic hybrid hollow particles to an average outside diameter of the at least one of inorganic hollow particles or inorganic-organic hybrid hollow particles is in a range of from 0.4 to 0.95.
  • 3. The inkjet ink composition according to claim 1, wherein a volume average particle diameter of the at least one of inorganic hollow particles or inorganic-organic hybrid hollow particles is in a range of from 0.01 to 1.0 μm.
  • 4. The inkjet ink composition according to claim 1, wherein the white pigment comprises the inorganic hollow particles, and the inorganic hollow particles comprise at least one selected from the group consisting of titanium oxide particles, silicon oxide particles and zinc oxide particles.
  • 5. The inkjet ink composition according to claim 1, wherein the white pigment comprises the inorganic hollow particles, and the inorganic hollow particles comprise titanium oxide particles.
  • 6. The inkjet ink composition according to claim 1, wherein the white pigment comprises the inorganic-organic hybrid hollow particles, and the inorganic-organic hybrid hollow particles comprise a hollow particle formed by coating a surface of an organic hollow particle with an inorganic material.
  • 7. The inkjet ink composition according to claim 6, wherein the inorganic material that coats the surface of the organic hollow particle is titanium oxide.
  • 8. The inkjet ink composition according to claim 6, wherein the surface of the organic hollow particle coated with the inorganic material is subjected to a surface treatment with at least one of Al, Si or Zr—Al.
  • 9. The inkjet ink composition according to claim 1, wherein an amount of the at least one of inorganic hollow particles or inorganic-organic hybrid hollow particles is in a range of 5 to 30% by mass relative to a total amount of the ink composition.
  • 10. The inkjet ink composition according to claim 1, wherein the polymerizable compound comprises (meth)acrylate.
  • 11. The inkjet ink composition according to claim 1, wherein the white pigment further comprises one or more other white inorganic pigments that are different to the inorganic hollow particles and inorganic-organic hybrid hollow particles.
  • 12. The inkjet ink composition according to claim 11, wherein the other white inorganic pigments comprise titanium oxide.
  • 13. The inkjet ink composition according to claim 12, wherein the titanium oxide is pre-treated with alumina, zinc, zirconia, or a basic organic material.
