Claims
- 1. An ink tank provided with an ink supply opening and an atmosphere communicating port, and containing a first ink absorbing member supporting ink in a predetermined negative pressure to store the ink, said ink tank comprising:a second ink absorbing member arranged so that a first end of said second ink absorbing member is in pressing contact with said first ink absorbing member, and a second end of said second ink absorbing member faces said ink supply opening; a supporting member to support said second ink absorbing member, a length of the supporting member being shorter than a length from said first end of said second ink absorbing member to said second end of the second ink absorbing member, and which covers an portion of an outer circumference side of said second ink absorbing member at an ink supply opening side of the second ink absorbing member; and a restriction member for preventing said second ink absorbing member from moving outward of said ink supply opening due to pressing of said second ink absorbing member with said first ink absorbing member, wherein said second ink absorbing member is capable of slidably moving toward said first ink absorbing member within said supporting member, and wherein said supporting member has a portion that does not contact with said second ink absorbing member thereby forming an air communication member.
- 2. An ink tank as claimed in claim 1, wherein the ink tank is capable of being attached to and detached from a supply pipe connected with said ink tank at said ink supply opening to compose a supply path for supplying ink to an ink jet head from said ink tank, and wherein when said ink tank is connected with the supply pipe, the supply pipe enters inside said ink supply opening and causes said second ink absorbing member to slidably move toward said first ink absorbing member.
- 3. An ink tank as claimed in claim 2, wherein said second end of said second ink absorbing member has flexibility to be deformed by touching of said second ink absorbing member with the supply pipe.
- 4. An ink tank as claimed in claim 1, wherein said restriction member is provided at a rim of said ink supply opening so as to touch a circumferential area of said second end of said second ink absorbing member to prevent said second ink absorbing member from being moved out of said ink supply opening.
- 5. An ink tank as claimed in claim 1, wherein said second ink absorbing member has an ink-inducing property for causing ink to move from said first ink absorbing member to said ink supply opening.
- 6. An ink tank as claimed in claim 5, wherein said second ink absorbing member includes a bundle of fibers arranged in a direction from said first ink absorbing member to said ink supply opening.
- 7. An ink tank as claimed in claim 1, wherein said supporting member has a plurality of portions that form a plurality of air communicating members.
- 8. An ink tank as claimed in claim 7, wherein a rib is provided inside of said ink tank between said ink supply opening and said atmosphere communicating port so that said air communicating members communicate with said atmosphere communicating port.
