Claims
- 1. A carriage, movable along a predetermined path, for detachably mounting thereon an ink jet recording head, comprising:
- a first abutment portion for positioning the recording head in a horizontal direction;
- an engageable member, disposed at a side of said carriage and substantially parallel to a movement direction of said carriage, for engaging the recording head, said engageable member being rotatable and slidable;
- an operating lever, disposed substantially entirely adjacent to a side of said carriage substantially perpendicular to the movement direction of said carriage, said operating lever being rotatable in a direction crossing with plane of movement of said carriage, wherein said operating lever causes said engageable member to engage and move the recording head such that the recording head abuts said first abutment portion and rotates about said first abutment portion;
- a second abutment portion for abutting the recording head during rotation to stop the rotational movement of the recording head; and
- urging means for urging the recording head toward said second abutment portion, wherein the recording head is mounted on said carriage by moving said operating lever in one direction and is dismounted from said carriage by moving said operating lever in opposite direction.
- 2. A carriage according to claim 1, further comprising an ink jet recording head detachably mountable on said carriage.
- 3. A carriage according to claim 2, wherein ink is ejected from said ink jet recording head by heat produced by an electrothermal transducer element.
- 4. A carriage, movable along a predetermined path, for detachably mounting thereon an ink jet recording head, comprising:
- a hook movable in rotational and slidable motions, wherein said hook engages the recording head during the rotational and slidable motions; and
- an operating lever disposed substantially entirely adjacent to a side of said carriage substantially perpendicular to a movement direction of said carriage, said operating lever being rotatable in a direction crossing with a plane of movement of said carriage, and including a helix and planar cam surface engageable with said hook for producing the rotational and slidable motions of said hook, wherein said operating lever causes said hook to engage the recording head.
- 5. A carriage according to claim 4, further comprising an ink jet recording head detachably mountable on said carriage.
- 6. A carriage according to claim 5, wherein ink is ejected from said ink jet recording head by head produced by an electrothermal transducer.
- 7. A carriage, movable along a predetermined path, for detachably mounting thereon an ink jet recording head having an integral ink container;
- an abutment member disposed at a front portion of said carriage;
- a rib provided on said abutment member, wherein said rib projects toward a front of said carriage and beyond a side surface of the recording head from which ink is ejected, said rib extending in a direction of movement of said carriage;
- an operating lever disposed substantially entirely adjacent to a side of said carriage substantially perpendicular to a movement direction of said carriage, said operating lever being rotatable in a direction crossing with a plane of movement of said carriage, wherein said operating lever interacts with a portion of said carriage engageable with the recording head; and
- a shifting mechanism for shifting the rotational motion of said operating lever to the portion of the carriage engageable with the recording head for causing the engageable portion of said carriage to move substantially parallel with the movement direction of said carriage.
- 8. A carriage according to claim 7, further comprising an ink jet recording head detachably mountable on said carriage.
- 9. A carriage according to claim 8, wherein ink is ejected from said ink jet recording head by heat produced by an electrothermal transducer.
- 10. A carriage, movable along a predetermined path, for detachably mounting thereon an ink jet recording head, comprising:
- a supporting plate;
- a flexible substrate provided along a surface of said supporting plate;
- an urging member, disposed between said substrate and the surface of said supporting plate and including a pattern of projections corresponding to electric contacts provided on said substrate;
- 11. A carriage according to claim 10, further comprising an ink jet recording head detachably mountable on said carriage.
- 12. A carriage according to claim 11, wherein ink is ejected from said ink jet recording head by heat generated by an electrothermal transducer.
- 13. A carriage according to any one of claims 2, 5, 8 and 11, further comprising as a unit a head element for ejecting ink and an ink container for containing ink supplied to the head element.
- 14. An ink jet recording apparatus comprising said carriage as defined in claim 1, 4, 7 and 10 and an ink jet recording head detachably mountable on said carriage.
