Claims
- 1. An ink jet recording head for jetting ink droplets to a recording medium and forming a dot image on said recording medium, said ink jet recording head comprising:
- ink jetting orifices from which ink droplets are jetted;
- ink paths connected to said ink jetting orifices, said ink paths being filled with ink;
- energy applying portions, provided in said ink paths, for applying energy to the ink in said ink paths on demand so that bubbles are generated in the ink, ink droplets being jetted from said ink jetting orifices by the bubbles generated in the ink in said ink paths; and
- control means for controlling said energy applying portions in accordance with image information representing an image to be formed on said recording medium so that the image includes pixels each of which is formed of one or a plurality of ink droplets, a maximum number of ink droplets for each pixel being controlled.
- 2. An ink jet recording apparatus for jetting ink droplets to a recording medium and forming a dot image on said recording medium, said ink jet recording apparatus comprising:
- ink jetting orifices from which ink droplets are jetted;
- ink paths connected to said ink letting orifices, said ink paths being filled with ink;
- energy applying portions, provided in said ink paths, for applying energy to the ink in said ink paths on demand so that bubbles are generated in the ink, ink droplets being jetted from said ink jetting orifices by the bubbles generated in the ink in said ink paths; and
- control means for controlling said energy applying portions in accordance with image information representing an image to be formed on said recording medium so that the image includes pixels each of which is formed of one or a plurality of ink droplets, a maximum number of ink droplets for each pixel being controlled based on a kind of recording medium,
- wherein the maximum number of ink droplets for each pixel of the image depends on a kind of the recording medium on which the image is to be formed, and wherein a degree of expansion of an ink dot on the recording medium depends on the kind of recording medium.
- 3. An ink jet recording apparatus for jetting ink droplets to a recording medium and forming a dot image on said recording medium, said ink jet recording apparatus comprising:
- ink jetting orifices from which ink droplets are jetted;
- ink paths connected to said ink jetting orifices, said ink paths being filled with ink;
- energy applying portions, provided in said ink paths, for applying energy to the ink in said ink paths on demand so that bubbles are generated in the ink, ink droplets being jetted from said ink jetting orifices by the bubbles generated in the ink in said ink paths; and
- control means for controlling said energy applying portions in accordance with image information representing an image to be formed on said recording medium so that the image includes pixels each of which is formed of one or a plurality of ink droplets, a maximum number of ink droplets for each pixel being controlled based on a kind of recording medium,
- wherein a center of each pixel which is formed of one or a plurality of ink droplets is approximately on a predetermined position on said recording medium.
- 4. An ink jet recording apparatus for letting ink droplets to a recording medium and forming a dot image on said recording medium, said ink let recording apparatus comprising:
- ink jetting orifices from which ink droplets are jetted;
- ink paths connected to said ink letting orifices, said ink paths being filled with ink;
- energy applying portions, provided in said ink paths, for applying energy to the ink in said ink paths on demand so that bubbles are generated in the ink, ink droplets being jetted from said ink jetting orifices by the bubbles generated in the ink in said ink paths; and
- control means for controlling said energy applying portions in accordance with image information representing an image to be formed on said recording medium so that the image includes pixels each of which is formed of one or a plurality of ink droplets, a maximum number of ink droplets for each pixel being controlled based on a kind of recording medium,
- wherein pixels each of which are formed of one or a plurality of ink droplets are arranged at approximately constant intervals in the image.
- 5. The ink jet recording apparatus as claimed in claim 4, wherein an interval between centers of respective sets of pulses which activate said energy applying portion to jet ink droplets for pixels adjacent to each other on the image is approximately constant.
- 6. The ink jet recording apparatus as claimed in claim 4, wherein an interval between centers of respective sets of ink droplets flying for pixels adjacent to each other on the image is approximately constant.
- 7. An ink jet recording apparatus for letting ink droplets to a recording medium and forming a dot image on said recording medium, said ink jet recording apparatus comprising:
- ink jetting orifices from which ink droplets are jetted;
- ink paths connected to said ink jetting orifices, said ink paths being filled with ink;
- energy applying portions, provided in said ink paths, for applying energy to the ink in said ink paths on demand so that bubbles are generated in the ink, ink droplets being jetted from said ink jetting orifices by the bubbles generated in the ink in said ink paths; and
- control means for controlling said energy applying portions in accordance with image information representing an image to be formed on said recording medium so that the image includes pixels each of which is formed of one or a plurality of ink droplets, a maximum number of ink droplets for each pixel being controlled based on a kind of recording medium,
- wherein a number of ink droplets corresponding to image data for a pixel is controlled so that a relationship between an actual density of the pixel in the image on said recording medium and the image data for the pixel is linear.
- 8. An ink jet recording method for jetting ink droplets to a recording medium and forming a dot image on said recording medium, said method comprising the steps of:
- (a) jetting ink droplets from an ink jet orifice connected to a ink path filled with ink toward said recording medium; and
- (b) controlling a number of ink droplets jetted for each pixel on the dot image in accordance with image information in a state where a maximum number of ink droplets capable of being jetted for each pixel is limited based on a kind of said recording medium, a degree of expansion of an ink dot on the recording medium depending on the kind of the recording medium.
- 9. The method as claimed in claim 8, wherein the maximum number of ink droplets to be jetted for each pixel is set so as to be smaller for a recording medium in which a degree of spreading of ink is higher.
- 10. The method as claimed in claim 8, wherein said step (a) includes the step of:
- (a-1) applying energy to the ink in said ink path on demand so that bubbles are generated in the ink, the ink droplets being jetted from said ink jetting orifice by the bubbles generated in the ink in said ink path.
- 11. An ink jet recording method for jetting ink droplets to a recording medium and forming a dot image on said recording medium, said method comprising the steps of:
- (a) jetting ink droplets from an ink jet orifice connected to a ink path filled with ink toward said recording medium; and
- (b) controlling a number of ink droplets jetted for each pixel on the dot image in accordance with image information in a state where a maximum number of ink droplets capable of being jetted for each pixel is limited based on a printing speed.
- 12. The method as claimed in claim 11, wherein said step (a) includes the step of:
- (a-1) applying energy to the ink in said ink path on demand so that bubbles are generated in the ink, the ink droplets being jetted from said ink jetting orifice by the bubbles generated in the ink in said ink path.
