Claims
- 1. A method for killing insects on useful plant crops by applying to said plant crops an insecticidally effective amount of a tetraorganotin compound of the formula ##STR10## wherein m is 0 or 1, R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are individually selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine, bromine, iodine, phenyl, --OR.sup.3, --SR.sup.3, --NR.sup.4 R.sup.5, --N.sup..sym. R.sup.4 R.sup.5 R.sup.6 X.sup..crclbar., ##STR11## --CO.sub.2 H, --CO.sub.2.sup..crclbar. Y.sup..sym., --CO.sub.2 R.sup.3, --SO.sub.2 OR.sup.4, --SO.sub.2 R.sup.4, --SO.sub.3.sup..crclbar. Y.sup..sym., --PO(OR.sup.4)OR.sup.5, --PO(R.sup.4)R.sup.5 and C.ident.N, wherein R is alkyl and contains from 1 to 12 carbon atoms, R.sup.4, R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 are individually selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and alkyl containing from 1 to 12 carbon atoms, X.sup..crclbar. is an anion selected from the group consisting of chloride, bromide, iodide, bisulfate, acetate and methyl sulfate and Y.sup..sym. is an alkali metal or ammonium.
- 2. A method according to claim 1 wherein m is 0, R.sup.1 is hydrogen and R.sup.2 is selected from the group consisting of --OR.sup.3, --NH.sub.2, --NR.sup.4 R.sup.5, --NR.sup.4 R.sup.5 CH.sub.3.sup..crclbar. I.sup..sym., chlorine, ##STR12##
- 3. A method according to claim 2 wherein R.sup.3 is methyl, R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 are C.sub.2 H.sub.5.
- 4. A method according to claim 1 wherein m is 0, R.sup.1 is hydrogen and R.sup.2 is p--OCH.sub.3.
