Claims
- 1. An electrical connector for electrically connecting a flat cable to a complementary header connector, comprising:
a bottom body with a tower at a lateral end thereof; a plurality of terminals assembled to the bottom body adapted for electrically connecting with the flat cable; and a latch member being adapted for connecting the electrical connector to the header connector and including a first latch arm, a second latch arm and a bight therebetween, the first latch arm including a push bottom for handling; wherein the latch member is assembled to the tower with the bight abutting against with a top surface of the tower, and the push bottom may engage with the tower to prevent the latch member from overstress.
- 2. The electrical connector as described in claim 1, further comprising a top cover assembled to the bottom body for securely positioning the flat cable on the bottom body.
- 3. The electrical connector as described in claim 2, wherein the top cover includes an outer locker extending downwardly with a first bottom hook, and the tower forms a projection for engaging with the first bottom hook.
- 4. The electrical connector as described in claim 2, wherein the top cover includes an inner locker extending downwardly with a second bottom hook, and the tower defines a hook receiving slit with a top surface for engaging with the second bottom hook.
- 5. The electrical connector as described in claim 1, wherein the tower defines a through hole and the latch member is stamped and formed from a metallic sheet so that the second latch arm has a boardlock-like shape, the second latch arm being engageably received in the through hole of the tower.
- 6. An electrical connector for electrically connecting a flat cable to a complementary header connector, comprising:
a bottom body including a tower at a lateral end thereof; a plurality of terminals retained in the bottom body adapted for electrical connecting with the flat cable; a top cover being assembled to the bottom body for securely positioning the flat cable on the bottom body and including a first locker engaging with bottom body; and a latch member being assembled to the tower and including a latch arm for engaging with the tower.
- 7. The electrical connector as described in claim 6, wherein the top cover forms a second locker engaging with the bottom body.
- 8. The electrical connector as described in claim 7, wherein either of the first locker and the second locker forms a bottom hook engaging with the tower.
- 9. The electrical connector as described in claim 6, wherein the tower defines a through hole and the latch member is stamped and formed from a metallic sheet so that the latch arm has a boardlock-like shape, the latch arm being engageably received in the through hole of the tower.
- 10. The electrical connector as described in claim 7, wherein said bottom body defines first and second locking projections corresponding to both said first and second lockers, and said first and second locking projections surround said latch member.
- 11. An electrical connector assembly for connecting with a flat cable, comprising:
an electrical connector, comprising:
a bottom body; a plurality of terminals assembled to the bottom body adapted for connecting with the flat cable; a top cover being assembled to the bottom body and having a bottom face adapted for terminating the flat cable; and a latch member connecting the electrical connector to the header connector and including a first latch arm, a second latch arm and a bight therebetween; and a header connector for mating with the electrical connector and forming a girder at a lateral end thereof; wherein the first latch arm engages with the girder and the second latch arm engages with the bottom body, the first latch arm forms a push bottom for handling and engaging with a tower of the bottom body thereby preventing the latch member from overstress.
- 12. The electrical connector assembly as described in claim 11, wherein the top cover forms an first locker with a first bottom hook and the bottom body forms a projection engaging with the first bottom hook.
- 13. The electrical connector assembly as described in claim 11, wherein top cover forms a second locker with a second bottom hook and the bottom body define a hook receiving slit with a top surface engaging with the second bottom hook.
- 14. The electrical connector assembly as described in claim 11, wherein the first latch arm forms a third bottom hook engaging with the girder.
- 15. The electrical connector assembly as described in claim 11, wherein the latch member is stamped and formed from a metallic sheet so that the second latch arm has a boardlock-like shape, the second latch arm being engageably received in a through hole of the bottom body.
