- 7. An insulation system as recited in claim 1 wherein said insulating means comprises a pair of closely spaced, generally planar panels disposed at an angle with respect to one another, and wherein one of said edges is disposed on one of said panels and the other of said edges is disposed on the other of said panels and wherein said sealing means comprises a pressure sensitive adhesive tape secured to said one and said other of said edges.
- 8. An insulation system as recited in claim 1 wherein said insulating means comprise a pair of closely spaced, generally planar panels disposed in generally the same plane and wherein one of said edges is disposed on one of said panels, and the other of said edges is disposed on the other or said panels and wherein said sealing means comprises a pressure sensitive adhesive tape secured to said one and said other of said edges.
- 9. An insulation system as recited in claim 1 wherein said insulating means comprises flexible, blanket insulation which is adapted to be wrapped about the fluid conduit, and wherein one of said edges is disposed on one sheet of insulation and the other of said edges is disposed on another sheet of insulation and wherein said sealing means comprises a pressure sensitive adhesive tape secured to said one and said other of said edges.
- 10. An insulation system as recited in claim 1 wherein said sheet of material is selected from the group consisting of polyester, polypropylene, a metalized foil, polyethylene, Nylon, acetate, polyvinylchloride, UPVC, polystyrene and ethylvinylacetate.
- 11. An insulation system for an elongated fluid conduit comprising:
- an elongated segment of an insulating material for being wrapped about the conduit said segment having an outer surface;
- a centrally disposed channel extending along the length of said segment int he direction of elongation of said segment, said channel being adapted to receive the conduit therein;
- a slit extending along the length of said segment in its direction of elongation and from said outer surface thereof to said central channel for allowing the conduit to be inserted into said central channel;
- means for sealing said slit, said sealing means including a flap extending across said slit, said flap having an inner surface facing said outer surface of said segment;
- a layer of a water resistant, non-tacky coating material secured to a selected one of said outer surface of said segment and said inner surface of said flap;
- a layer of a pressure sensitive adhesive permanently bonded to the other of said outer surface of said segment and said inner surface of said flap; and
- means disposed between said layer of a pressure sensitive adhesive and said layer of a water resistant, non-tacky coating material for temporarily securing said layer of adhesive to said layer of coating material for temporarily securing said flap to said outer surface of said segment.
- 12. An insulation system as recited in claim 11 wherein said temporarily securing means comprises:
- tape means disposed between said pressure sensitive adhesive layer and said layer of coating material;
- a release coating disposed on a side of said tape means facing said pressure sensitive adhesive layer, said pressure sensitive adhesive layer being releasably bonded to said release coating; and
- a layer of a low tack adhesive releasably bonding said tape means to said layer of coating material.
- 13. An insulation system as recited in claim 12 wherein said tape means and said low tack adhesive means are removable together, whereby said layer of pressure sensitive adhesive may be securely bonded to said layer of coating material.
