Claims
- 1. A method for passing a material through a rotary air lock feeder, comprising the following steps:
receiving a bale of material into a hopper of said rotary air lock feeder such that a length of said bale is substantially parallel to an axis of a rotor within said hopper; pulling apart said bale of material into portions in substantially a uniform manner relative said length of said bale; passing each portion of said material through said hopper such that each said portion maintains a substantially uniform density along its length; and receiving each said portion of material into a cylinder of said rotary air lock feeder, wherein said bale of material is processed through said rotary air lock feeder in a consistent manner and said rotary air lock feeder discharges said material in substantially a uniform manner.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein said receiving, pulling and passing steps are performed without crushing and compacting said material.
- 3. The method of claim 1 wherein said step of receiving a bale of material into said hopper is performed without wedging said bale in said hopper.
- 4. The method of claim 1 further comprising the step of providing said hopper and said cylinder wherein said hopper and said cylinder each have a length that substantially corresponds to said length of said bale.
- 5. The method of claim 1 further comprising the step of receiving each said portion of material into said cylinder such that said length of said material corresponds with a length of said cylinder.
- 6. The method of claim 1 wherein said step of pulling said material apart comprises pulling said material into said portions having an expanding width as each said portion of material is processed through said hopper and into said cylinder.
- 7. A rotary air lock feeder for delivering a bale of material, comprising:
a cylinder having a central axis; and a hopper communicating with said cylinder and having a rotor therein, said hopper having a length at least as large as a length of said bale of material to permit said bale of material to be received into said hopper substantially parallel to an axis of said rotor relative said length of said bale of material, and said cylinder also having a length at least as large as said length of said bale of material to permit said bale of material to be received into said cylinder substantially parallel to said central axis of said cylinder relative said length of said bale of material.
- 8. The rotary air lock feeder of claim 7 wherein a length of said rotor substantially corresponds with said length of said cylinder.
- 9. The rotary air lock feeder of claim 7 wherein a length of said rotor of said hopper substantially corresponds with said length of said bale of material.
- 10. The rotary air lock feeder of claim 7 wherein said length of said cylinder substantially corresponds with said length of said bale of material.
