Claims
- 1. In an intake system for an internal combustion engine of a type having a cylinder head, a combustion chamber, an intake passage having a lower side, an exhaust passage, and an intake valve and an exhaust valve disposed in said intake and exhaust passages to open and close the respective passages, the improvement comprising a closed supply chamber of a predetermined volume disposed at a location in a plane above said intake passage, and control passage means having only two ends and being connected at one end of said ends to said supply chamber while being open at the other end to the lower side of said intake passage at a position upstream of and adjacent said intake valve, said control passage means having a portion extending from said other end to an open end and being disposed in a plane below said intake passage and integrally formed by said cylinder head, said control passage means further having a flexible conduit having two ends and being connected at one end of its ends to the open end of said portion and the other of its ends forming said one end of said control passage means.
- 2. An intake system for an internal combustion engine as claimed in claim 1, wherein said closed supply chamber has a downwardly tapered bottom portion connected to the other end of said flexible conduit.
- 3. An intake system for an internal combustion engine as claimed in claim 1, wherein said portion of the control passage means is obtained by boring said cylinder head.
- 4. An intake system for an internal combustion engine as claimed in claim 1, wherein the engine further includes an ignition spark plug mounted at an upper part of the combustion chamber, and wherein said portion of said control passage means is substantially directed toward the spark plug whereby when the intake valve opens a flow of mixture injected from the control passage means while merging with mixture fed through the intake passage generates a swirl flow of mixture in the combustion chamber.
