Claims
- 1. A shuttle assembly for transferring at least one article on at least one pallet between a conveyor and a moveable table having at least one work spindle for removably supporting individual pallets, comprising:
- a drive bar being disposed adjacent one side of the conveyor;
- means for moving said drive bar across the conveyor;
- means for providing at least one loading station on the side of the conveyor opposite said drive bar and cooperable with the work spindle of the moveable table; and
- means for positioning the pallet across from said loading station on the conveyor to allow said drive bar to move the pallet across the conveyor to said loading station;
- guide means being moveable to extend above and to retract below the plane of the upper surface of the conveyor for respectively preventing and allowing said drive bar to move the pallet across the conveyor; and for respectively preventing and allowing the pallet to move to and from said conveyor and said loading station; and
- means for extending and retracting said guide means.
- 2. The assembly as set forth in claim 1 including means for guiding said drive bar to maintain said drive bar substantially parallel to the plane of the upper surface of the conveyor.
- 3. The system as set forth in claim 2 including a plurality of clamping means mounted to said drive bar for engaging and disengaging the pallets.
- 4. A shuttle assembly for transferring at least one article on at least one pallet between a conveyor and a moveable table having at least one work spindle for removably supporting individual pallets, comprising:
- a drive bar being disposed adjacent one side of the conveyor;
- means for moving said drive bar across the conveyor;
- guide means being moveable to extend above and to retract below the plane of the upper surface of the conveyor for respectively preventing and allowing, said drive bar to move the pallet across the conveyor;
- means for extending and retracting said guide means;
- means for providing at least one loading and unloading station on the side of the conveyor opposite said drive bar and cooperable with the work spindle of the moveable table, said unloading station being laterally adjacent said loading station;
- means for positioning the pallet across from said loading station on the conveyor to allow the drive bar to move the pallet across the conveyor to said loading station; and
- at least one clamping means mounted to said drive bar across from said unloading station for engaging and disengaging the pallet to allow said drive bar to move the pallet from the unloading station to the conveyor.
- 5. The assembly as set forth in claim 4 including means for guiding said drive bar to maintain said drive bar substantially parallel to the plane of the upper surface of the conveyor.
- 6. A shuttle assembly for transferring a plurality of pallets simultaneously between a conveyor and a moveable table, comprising:
- a drive bar being disposed adjacent one side of the conveyor;
- means for moving said drive bar across the conveyor;
- means for providing a plurality of loading and unloading stations on the side of the conveyor opposite said drive bar and cooperable with the moveable table, said unloading stations being laterally adjacent said loading stations;
- means for stopping a plurality of pallets across from said loading stations to allow said drive bar to move the plurality of pallets simultaneously across the conveyor to the loading stations.
- 7. The assembly as set forth in claim 6 including guide means being moveable to extend above and to retract below a plane of an upper surface of the conveyor for respectively preventing and allowing said drive bar to move the plurality of pallets across the conveyor.
- 8. The assembly as set forth in claim 7 including a plurality of clamping means mounted to said drive bar across from said unloading stations for engaging the plurality of pallets to allow said drive bar to move the plurality of pallets simultaneously form said plurality of unloading stations to the conveyor.
- 9. The assembly as set forth in claim 6 including means for guiding said drive bar to maintain said drive bar substantially parallel to the plane of the upper surface of the conveyor.
