Claims
- 1. A blood processing system including a user interactive interface, the system comprising
- an array of hardware elements including an element operative for separating blood into component parts,
- a controller coupled to the hardware elements operative for actuating the hardware elements to carry out a selected blood processing procedure, the controller including an input operative to receive a process parameter value for the selected blood processing procedure and an output operative to transmit a processing status value that changes over time as the hardware elements carry out the selected blood processing procedure,
- an interface screen having a status display region and a working display region spaced and distinct from the status display region,
- an interface manager communicating with the interface screen and the controller input and the controller output, the interface manager including
- means for generating a first display on the status display region including a first field,
- means for generating a second display on the working display region, the second display being different than the first display and including a second field,
- means for showing in the first field changes in the processing status value in response to the controller output,
- means for showing in the second field the process parameter value received by the controller input while simultaneously showing changes in the processing status value in the first field in response to controller output, and
- means responsive to information received by the controller input to change the process parameter value showing in the second field on the working display region while simultaneously keeping changes in the processing status value showing in the first field on the status display region.
- 2. A system according to claim 1 wherein the interface manager further includes
- means for generating a third display different than the first and second displays,
- means responsive to an input command for blanking the second display on the working display region and generating the third display on the working display region while simultaneously keeping changes in the processing status value showing in the first field on the status display region.
- 3. A system according to claim 2
- wherein the third display includes a field, and
- wherein the interface manager further includes means for showing in the field of the third display a menu listing alternative selections.
- 4. A system according to claim 3
- wherein the alternative selections listed on the menu include a listing of blood processing procedures.
- 5. A system according to claim 4
- and wherein the controller input receives information selecting one of the blood processing procedures listed on the menu.
- 6. A system according to claim 5 wherein the interface manager includes
- means for generating in the first display on the status display region a third field separate and distinct from the first field,
- means for showing in the third field a process identifier identifying the selected blood processing procedure.
- 7. A system according to claim 2
- wherein the controller includes a monitoring element to sense processing conditions and to generate the input command when sensed processing conditions fail to meet prescribed criteria,
- wherein the third display includes a field, and
- wherein the interface manager further includes means for showing in the field of the third display a sensed processing condition.
- 8. A blood processing system including a user interactive interface, the system comprising
- an array of hardware elements including an element operative for separating blood into component parts,
- a controller coupled to the hardware elements operative for actuating the hardware elements to carry out a selected blood processing procedure, the controller including an input operative to receive a process parameter value for the selected blood processing procedure and an output operative to transmit a processing status value that changes over time as the hardware elements carry out the selected blood processing procedure,
- an interface screen having a status display region and a working display region spaced and distinct from the status display region,
- an interface manager communicating with the interface screen and the controller input and the controller output, the interface manager including
- means for generating a first display on the status display region including a first field and a second field separate and distinct from the first field,
- means for generating a second display on the working display region, the second display being different than the first display and including a third field,
- means for showing in the first field a process identifier identifying the selected blood processing procedure,
- means for showing in the second field changes in the processing status value in response to the controller output,
- means for showing in the third field the process parameter value received by the controller input while simultaneously showing the process identifier in the first field and changes in the processing status value in the second field in response to controller output, and
- means responsive to information received by the controller input to change the process parameter value showing in the third field on the working display region while simultaneously keeping the process identifier showing in the first field and changes in the processing status value showing in the second field on the status display region.
- 9. A system according to claim 8 wherein the interface manager further includes
- means for generating a third display different than the first and second displays,
- means responsive to an input command for blanking the second display on the working display region and generating the third display on the working display region while simultaneously keeping the process identifier showing in the first field and changes in the processing status value showing in the second field on the status display region.
- 10. A system according to claim 9
- wherein the third display includes a field, and
- wherein the interface manager further includes means for showing in the field of the third display a menu listing alternative selections.
- 11. A system according to claim 10
- wherein the alternative selections listed on the menu include a listing of blood processing procedures.
- 12. A system according to claim 11
- and wherein the controller input receives information selecting one of the blood processing procedures listed on the menu, and
- wherein the interface manager includes means responsive to information received by the controller input to change the process identifier showing in the first field while simultaneously keeping changes in the processing status value showing in the second field on the status display region.
- 13. A system according to claim 9
- wherein the controller includes a monitoring element to sense processing conditions and to generate the input command when sensed processing conditions fail to meet prescribed criteria,
- wherein the third display includes a field, and
- wherein the interface manager further includes means for showing in the field of the third display a sensed processing condition.
