1. Field of the Invention
This invention relates generally to tools and, more particularly, to a wearable glove having a removably attachable sand paper surface.
2. Description of the Prior Art
The use of abrasive products, such as sandpaper (or glasspaper), is well known articles for removing small amounts of material from surfaces in order to make them smoother, rougher, or to remove a layer of material.
The use of gloves is well known for many purposes is well known. Gloves are commonly used for protection against cold or heat, damage by friction, abrasion or chemicals, hygiene or disease prevention, and contamination prevention. In industries and jobs where work is done by hand and dexterity is a key skill, gloves often come in handy in accomplishing tasks effectively, quickly, and safely. A problem which still exists, however, is that in many jobs where gloves are used and there is a need for removing small amounts of material from surfaces, an individual will often be utilize a pair of gloves and a separate amount of sandpaper. Thus, there remains a need for a wearable glove having a embedded abrasive surface which would eliminate the need for separate gloves and abrasive material sheets to be brought to a job. It would be helpful if such a wearable glove having a embedded abrasive surface was configured so that the abrasive surface was interchangeable. It would be additionally desirable for such a wearable glove having a embedded abrasive surface to be constructed out of a stretchable material to allow for secure fitting on a hand.
The Applicant's invention described herein provides for a wearable glove adapted to include a removably attachable abrasive surface disposed thereon. The primary components of Applicant's interchangeable abrasive glove are a base glove, a sandpaper component, and a fastening mechanism. When in operation, the interchangeable abrasive glove allows a user to utilize a selected and changeable abrasive surface built into his glove. As a result, many of the limitations imposed by the configuration of conventional gloves and abrasive materials are removed.
An interchangeable abrasive glove for allowing a user to selectively attach an abrasive surface to the palmar side of a glove. The interchangeable abrasive glove comprises a base glove constructed of a stretch polyester and rubber with a removably attachable sandpaper component which includes an abrasive area and a plurality of smooth portions. The base glove, which provides a glove means for covering, includes a glove fastening surface comprising the loop portion of a hook and loop fastener. The sandpaper component, which provides an abrasive means for attaching to said base glove, additionally includes a sandpaper fastening surface comprising the hook portion of a hook and loop fastener and a end tab portion. The sandpaper fastening surface and the glove fastening surface allows the sandpaper component to removably attached to the glove body, while the end tab portion provides a structure to be pulled on to ease the removal of the sandpaper component from the base glove.
It is an object of this invention to provide a wearable glove having a embedded abrasive surface which would eliminate the need for separate gloves and abrasive material sheets to be brought to a job.
It is another object of this invention to provide a wearable glove had a embedded abrasive surface was configured so that the abrasive surface was interchangeable.
It is yet another object of this invention to provide a wearable glove having a embedded abrasive surface constructed out of a stretchable material to allow for secure fitting on a hand.
These and other objects will be apparent to one of skill in the art.
