Interchangeable Bra or Swimsuit

Abstract

An interchangeable bra or swimsuit. The interchangeable bra or swimsuit includes a first side having a first cup, a first torso strap, and a first shoulder strap, and a second side having a second cup, a second torso strap, and a second shoulder strap. A front fastener is configured to removably secure the first cup to the second cup. A rear fastener is configured to removably secure the first torso strap to the second torso strap. The interchangeable garment allows users to form a comfortable bra or swimsuit having different individual cup sizes or other dimensions according to their body type in order to achieve a desired outward appearance, as well as different combinations of exterior features.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to bras and swimsuits with interchangeable components. More specifically, the present invention provides an interchangeable garment that can be customized to form a bra or swimsuit having different cup sizes and strap lengths according to the user's body type.

Bras and swimsuit tops typically include a symmetrical design, with each cup having the exact same size and shape. The left side of the garment and the right side of the garment typically only include components that are identical in size and other dimensions. While this arrangement fits fine for some women, many women have breasts that differ in size or are otherwise nonsymmetrical. For such individuals, wearing a typical bra or swimsuit can be very uncomfortable, or can result in an undesired outward appearance. Unfortunately, these individuals are often forced to pick a single size bra or swimsuit and suffer from the discomfort and inconvenience of a poor fit. In view of the above concerns, it is desirable to provide an interchangeable bra or swimsuit that allows users to customize an upper body garment with different individual cup sizes, strap lengths, and other components or dimensions to provide a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing fit.

Devices have been disclosed in the known art that relate to interchangeable garments. These include devices that have been disclosed in issued patents and published patent applications. However, these devices have several drawbacks. For example, the devices in the known art provide garments with individual customizable components, but fail to provide the amount of customization possible that is provided by the present invention. Some devices provide bras with interchangeable cups, but fail to provide fasteners for releasably connecting both the cups and the rear torso straps, which allow users to customize an entire side of the garment rather than just the cup components.

In light of the devices disclosed in the known art, it is submitted that the present invention substantially diverges in design elements from the known art, and consequently it is clear that there is a need in the art for an improvement to existing interchangeable bra and swimsuit devices. In this regard the present invention substantially fulfills these needs.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known types of interchangeable bras and swimsuits now present in the prior art, the present invention provides an interchangeable bra or swimsuit wherein the same can be utilized for providing convenience for the user when forming a bra or swimsuit top with different sizes of cups and straps. In an exemplary embodiment, the present interchangeable garment includes a first side having a first cup, a first torso strap, and a first shoulder strap, and a second side having a second cup, a second torso strap, and a second shoulder strap. A front fastener is configured to removably secure the first cup to the second cup, and a rear fastener is configured to removably secure the first torso strap to the second torso strap, forming a bra or swimsuit top when the two sides are secured together. The bra or swimsuit top can be formed from first and second sides having various differing sizes and dimensions for optimal comfort and for achieving a desired outward appearance.

An object of the present invention is to provide an interchangeable bra or swimsuit that includes all of the advantages of interchangeable garment devices in the known art and none of the disadvantages.

Another object of the present invention is provide an interchangeable bra or swimsuit that allows users to customize a bra or swimsuit to have one cup size on one side and another cup size on the other side, allowing users to customize the fit of the bra or swimsuit depending upon their particular body type.

A further object of the present invention is to provide an interchangeable bra or swimsuit that allows users to form a bra or swimsuit having two different sides with distinct exterior designs.

Other objects, features, and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Reference is made herein to the attached drawings. Like reference numerals are used throughout the drawings to depict like or similar elements of the interchangeable garment. For the purposes of presenting a brief and clear description of the present invention, the preferred embodiment will be discussed as used for customizing a bra or swimsuit with different individual sizes of cups, straps, and other components. The figures are intended for representative purposes only and should not be considered to be limiting in any respect.

Referring now to FIGS. 1 and 2, there is shown a front perspective view of the interchangeable bra or swimsuit with the first side secured to the second side, and a rear perspective view of the interchangeable bra or swimsuit with the first side secured to the second side, respectively. The interchangeable garment is designed to give wearers the option to customize the size of various components of a bra or swimsuit according to their body type and other personal preferences. To achieve this, the interchangeable garment includes a first side 10 that is removably securable to a second side 30. The first side 10 includes a first cup 11, a first shoulder strap 13, and a first torso strap 15. A front end 17 of the first shoulder strap 13 connects to the first cup 11, and a rear end 19 of the first shoulder strap 13 connects to the first torso strap 15. The second side 30 includes a second cup 12, a second shoulder strap 14, and a second torso strap 16. A front end 18 of the second shoulder strap 14 connects to the second cup 12, and a rear end 20 of the second shoulder strap 14 connects to the second torso strap 16.

The interchangeable bra or swimsuit includes a front fastener 32 that is configured to removably secure the first cup 11 to the second cup 12. In the illustrated embodiment, the front fastener 32 includes a first portion connected to the first cup 11 and a second portion connected to the second cup 12. Any suitable clip or other connection mechanism may be utilized for the front fastener 32. In some embodiments, the front fastener 32 is configured to be adjustable, which allows the wearer to adjust the distance between the first and second cups 11, 12 according to personal preference.

The interchangeable bra or swimsuit further includes a rear fastener 31, which is shown in the illustrated embodiment as having a first portion disposed on a rear end 23 of the first torso strap 15 and a second portion disposed on a rear end 24 the second torso strap 16. The rear fastener 31 is configured to removably secure the first torso strap 15 to the second torso strap 16. The first portion includes a plurality of linearly arranged hooks, and the second portion includes a plurality corresponding linearly arranged loops configured to removably receive the hooks. In this way, the rear fastener 31 is configured to adjustably secure the first 15 torso strap to the second torso strap 16, allowing the wearer to adjust the fit of the interchangeable garment for comfort. In combination with the front fastener 32, the rear fastener is configured to secure the first and second sides 10, 30 of the interchangeable bra or swimsuit around the upper body of the wearer.

In some embodiments, the first side 10 includes components that differ in size or other dimensions from the sizes or other dimensions of the components of the second side 30. This allows users to customize a bra or swimsuit to achieve a comfortable fit according to their body type and other personal preferences. For example, in one embodiment, the first cup 11 includes an overall diameter that is smaller than the overall diameter of the second cup 12. In other embodiments, the first cup 11 can have different thicknesses, different interior depths, and other different size adjustments that differ from the various sizes and dimensions of the second cup 12. The sizes and dimensions of the first and second cups 11, 12 can be customized to achieve an overall appearance of uniformity and symmetry if desired. As another example, the torso straps 13, 14 and the shoulder straps 15, 16 can vary in length, width, thickness, and other dimensions, so that users can assemble a bra or swimsuit top that conforms to their particular body shape for comfort and aesthetic appeal.

In some embodiments, the first side 11 and second side 12 may have distinct exterior designs, which is symbolized in the figures by the different hues of shading shown on the first side 11 and the second side 12 of the interchangeable bra or swimsuit. The distinct exterior designs can vary across different components of the interchangeable bra or swimsuit. This allows wearers to customize the overall outward appearance of the bra or swimsuit and mix and match styles if desired.

In some embodiments of the present invention, such as embodiments shown in FIGS. 1 and 4, the first and second shoulder straps 13, 14 are configured to be adjustable in length via a slide lock fastener 35. Other embodiments may include any other suitable length adjustment mechanisms. In some embodiments of the present invention, such as the embodiments shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, the first and second shoulder straps 13, 14 are fixed in length. As with other components of the interchangeable bra or swimsuit, the first and second shoulder straps 13, 14 can include different lengths, thicknesses, or other dimensions from one another, and the first and second torso straps 15, 16 can also have differing sizes and dimensions. The various size and dimensional differences of multiple components of the interchangeable garment allows for total customization for the user to achieve maximum comfort and a pleasing outward appearance.

Referring now to FIG. 3, there is shown a rear perspective view of the interchangeable bra or swimsuit with the first side disconnected from the second side. In some embodiments of the present invention, the first cup 11 includes a first padded interior 41 configured to contact and support the wearer's breast. Similarly, the second cup 12 may include a second padded interior 42 configured contact and support the wearer's other breast. The first and second padded interiors 41, 42 may include different diameters, thicknesses, or other dimensions. For example, an individual with asymmetrical breasts may choose different sized first and second cups 11, 12 that include different sized padded interiors 41, 42 in order to give the appearance of an increase in size of one of their breasts, such that a more symmetrical appearance is achieved. It is contemplated that the interchangeable bra or swimsuit can be made with or without the padded interiors 41, 42 within first and second cups 11, 12, as some embodiments of the present invention may not include interior cup padding.

Referring now to FIG. 4, there is shown a front perspective view of the interchangeable bra or swimsuit with the first side secured to the second side, along with a lower body garment. In use, a user may select a first side 10 of the bra or swimsuit and a second side 30 of the bra or swimsuit that have components that allow the user to achieve a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing fit when the interchangeable garment is worn. As such, the first cup 11, first shoulder strap 13, and first torso strap 15 can all include differing sizes, dimensions, and other features that are smaller and larger than the corresponding features of the second cup 12, second shoulder strap 14, and second torso strap 16. Once a desired first side 10 and second side 30 are selected, the user simply secures the first and second sides 10, 30 around their upper torso via the front and rear fasteners 32, 31. In the illustrated embodiment, the user can utilize the slide adjusters 35 to adjust the length of the first and second shoulder straps 13, 14. The user can combine the assembled interchangeable bra or swimsuit with any desired style of underwear or swimsuit bottom 51. In this way, the wearer is able to achieve a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing fit for a bra or swimsuit that corresponds with their particular body type and other personal preferences.

It is therefore submitted that the instant invention has been shown and described in what is considered to be the most practical and preferred embodiments. It is recognized, however, that departures may be made within the scope of the invention and that obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art. With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of the invention, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by the present invention.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the invention. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the invention.

Claims

1) An interchangeable garment, comprising: a first side comprising a first cup, a first torso strap, and a first shoulder strap;a second side comprising a second cup, a second torso strap, and a second shoulder strap;a front fastener configured to removably secure the first cup to the second cup; anda rear fastener configured to removably secure the first torso strap to the second torso strap.

2) The interchangeable garment of claim 1, wherein the first cup comprises a first diameter, and wherein the second cup comprises a second diameter that is greater than the first diameter of the first cup.

3) The interchangeable garment of claim 1, wherein the first torso strap comprises a first length, and wherein the second torso strap comprises a second length that is greater than the first length of the first torso strap.

4) The interchangeable garment of claim 1, wherein the first side and the second side form a bikini top when secured together.

5) The interchangeable garment of claim 1, wherein the first side and the second side form a brassiere when secured together.

6) The interchangeable garment of claim 1, wherein the first shoulder strap and the second shoulder strap are configured to be adjustable in length via a slide adjuster.

7) The interchangeable garment of claim 1, wherein the first side comprises a first distinct exterior design, and wherein the second side comprises a second distinct exterior design.

8) The interchangeable garment of claim 1, wherein the front fastener comprises a first portion disposed on the first cup and a second portion disposed on the second cup.

9) The interchangeable garment of claim 1, wherein the rear fastener comprises a first portion disposed on the first torso strap and a second portion disposed on the second torso strap.

10) The interchangeable garment of claim 1, wherein the first cup includes a first padded interior, and wherein the second cup includes a second padded interior.

11) An interchangeable garment, comprising: a first side comprising a first cup, a first torso strap, and a first shoulder strap;a second side comprising a second cup, a second torso strap, and a second shoulder strap;a front fastener configured to removably secure the first cup to the second cup;a rear fastener configured to removably secure the first torso strap to the second torso strap, the rear fastener comprising a first portion disposed on the first torso strap and a second portion disposed on the second torso strap, the first portion comprising a plurality of linearly arranged hooks, the second portion comprising a plurality of linearly arranged loops, such that the fastener is configured to adjustably secure the first torso strap to the second torso strap.

12) The interchangeable garment of claim 11, wherein the first cup comprises a first diameter, and wherein the second cup comprises a second diameter that is greater than the first diameter of the first cup.

13) The interchangeable garment of claim 11, wherein the first torso strap comprises a first length, and wherein the second torso strap comprises a second length that is greater than the first length of the first torso strap.

14) The interchangeable garment of claim 11, wherein the first side and the second side form a bikini top when secured together.

15) The interchangeable garment of claim 11, wherein the first side and the second side form a brassiere when secured together.

16) The interchangeable garment of claim 11, wherein the first shoulder strap and the second shoulder strap are configured to be adjustable in length.

17) The interchangeable garment of claim 11, wherein the first side comprises a first distinct exterior design, and wherein the second side comprises a second distinct exterior design.

18) The interchangeable garment of claim 11, wherein the front fastener comprises a first portion disposed on the first cup and a second portion disposed on the second cup.

19) The interchangeable garment of claim 11, wherein the first cup includes a first padded interior, and wherein the second cup includes a second padded interior.
