Claims
- 1. A hardware member adapted to be mounted to a panel of a furniture piece, said hardware member comprising:
a knob body adapted to be mounted to the furniture piece, said knob body having an axial bore, said axial bore receiving an elongated member to alter the appearance of said hardware member.
- 2. The hardware member as defined in claim 1 wherein said elongated member is attached to a fascia member, said fascia member concealing a front end of said knob body upon insertion of said elongated member into said axial bore.
- 3. The hardware member as defined in claim 2 and further comprising means for maintaining said elongated member within said axial bore.
- 4. The hardware member as defined in claim 2 wherein said elongated member has a non-circular cross-sectional configuration conforming to the configuration of said axial bore to prevent rotation of said fascia member relative to said knob body.
- 5. The hardware member as defined in claim 3 wherein said means for maintaining includes a magnetic member magnetically attaching said fascia member.
- 6. The hardware member as defined in claim 3 wherein said elongated member includes a plurality of bearings selectively movable radially outwardly to engage said axial bore and maintain said elongated member within said axial bore of said knob body.
- 7. The hardware member as defined in claim 6 wherein said elongated member includes an axial plunger movable between an engaged position moving said bearings radially outwardly and a disengaged position allowing said bearings to radially retract to facilitate removal of said elongated member from said bore of said knob body.
- 8. The hardware member as defined in claim 7 wherein said plunger is biased towards said engaged position.
- 9. A hardware member adapted to be mounted to a panel of a furniture piece, said hardware member comprising:
a knob body adapted to be mounted to the furniture piece, said knob body having a seat, said seat removably receiving an interchangeable fascia member to alter the appearance of said hardware member.
- 10. The hardware member as defined in claim 9 wherein said fascia member is magnetically maintained within said seat of said knob body.
- 11. The hardware member as defined in claim 10 wherein said fascia member includes an elongated member and said knob body includes an axial bore for receiving said elongated member.
- 12. The hardware member as defined in claim 11 wherein said elongated member has a non-circular cross-sectional configuration conforming to the configuration of said axial bore to prevent rotation of said fascia member relative to said knob body.
- 13. The hardware member as defined in claim 12 wherein said axial bore of said knob body includes a magnetic member for attaching said elongated member.
