Claims
- 1. A camera system capable of controlling a plurality of units to be controlled in a lens assembly on the basis of control information transmitted from a camera assembly, wherein said lens assembly and said camera assembly can be attached to and detached from each other, comprising:
- camera-side control means disposed in said camera assembly for transmitting said control information to said lens assembly;
- lens-side control means disposed in said lens assembly for receiving said control information transmitted from said camera assembly and controlling said plurality of units to be controlled;
- each of said units to be controlled including driving means and detecting means for detecting a displacement provided by said driving means;
- said camera-side control means being arranged to serially transmit said control information on each of said units to said lens-side control means;
- said lens-side control means being arranged to drive said driving means in each of said units to be controlled on the basis of said control information and to serially transmit to said camera-side control means information on each of said units, which is outputted from said detecting means, and
- communication means for performing an initial communication for transmitting information on the construction of said lens assembly to said camera assembly and a control communication for substantially driving each of said units to be controlled in said lens assembly between said camera-side control means and said lens-side control means, information on each of said units to be controlled in said lens assembly, such as the kind and number of units, being transmitted to said camera-side control means by said initial communication.
- 2. A camera system according to claim 1, wherein said communication of each information is performed in synchronization with a vertical synchronizing frequency (V-sync).
- 3. A camera system according to claims 1 or 2, wherein said units to be controlled in said lens assembly selectively include an AF (auto-focus) unit, an AE (auto-exposure) unit, a zooming unit, an AS (auto stabilizing) unit and the like.
- 4. A camera system which controls a function of a lens assembly on the basis of control information serially transmitted from a camera assembly, comprising:
- communication means for effecting communication of said control information, said communication means being capable of changing the number of communication words associated with said communication; and
- means for transmitting, if said number of communication words is changed, the changed number of communication words from said camera assembly to said lens assembly.
- 5. A camera system according to claim 4, wherein said lens assembly and said camera assembly can be attached to and detached from each other.
- 6. A camera system according to claim 5, wherein the communication of said control information includes an initial communication for transmitting to said camera assembly initial information indicative of specifications of said lens assembly, and a control communication for substantially controlling the function of said lens assembly from said camera assembly.
- 7. A camera system according to claim 6, wherein said control communication utilizes communication words whose number is variable according to a lens assembly selected as a target to be controlled, information on said changed number of communication words being transmitted to said lens assembly if said communication means changes the number of communication words when a communication mode is shifted from either of said initial and control communications to the other.
- 8. A camera system according to claim 6, wherein said lens assembly selectively includes an AF (auto-focus) unit, an AE (auto-exposure) unit, a zooming unit, and an AS (auto-stabilizing) unit, each of which serves as a target to be controlled.
- 9. A camera system according to claim 8, wherein said initial communication transmits information on the kind, number and characteristics of targets to be controlled in said lens assembly from said lens assembly to said camera assembly, while said control communication transmits control information for controlling each of said targets to be controlled from said camera assembly to said lens assembly and sends back information indicative of the state of said lens assembly from said lens assembly to said camera assembly.
- 10. A camera system according to claim 9, wherein said communication means serially transmits and receives said control information with respect to each of said units which serve as said targets to be controlled in said lens assembly.
- 11. A camera system according to claim 4, wherein said communication means performs communication of information in synchronization with a vertical synchronizing frequency (V-sync).
- 12. A camera system according to claim 4, wherein said communication means performs communication of information between a microcomputer of said camera assembly and a microcomputer of said lens assembly.
- 13. A camera system which controls a function of a lens assembly on the basis of control information serially transmitted from a camera assembly, comprising:
- first means for serially transmitting words indicative of said control information;
- second means for changing the number of words for said control information transmitted from said camera assembly; and
- third means for transmitting, if the number of words for said control information is changed, the changed number of words to said lens assembly.
- 14. A camera system according to claim 13, wherein an initial communication for transmitting specifications of said lens assembly to said camera assembly and a control communication for effecting communication of the control information required to control a function of said lens assembly are performed between said camera assembly and said lens assembly.
- 15. A camera system according to claim 14, wherein said second means changes the number of words for said control information in accordance with the function of said lens assembly.
- 16. A camera system according to claim 15, wherein said function is performed by a drive unit disposed in said lens assembly, such as an AF (auto-focus) unit, an AE (auto-exposure) unit, a zooming unit, and an AS (auto stabilizing) unit, the number of words for said control information being changed in accordance with the number of functions.
- 17. A camera system according to claim 15, wherein said second means fixes the number of words for said control information in said initial communication, and changes the number of words for said control information in said control communication in accordance with the specifications of said lens assembly.
- 18. A camera system according to claim 13, wherein said communication information includes a header part and a data part, the number of words which constitute said data part being variable.
- 19. A camera system according to claim 18, wherein said communication is performed in a serial manner between a microcomputer of said camera assembly and a microcomputer of said lens assembly.
- 20. A camera assembly to which a lens assembly can be detachably attached, comprising:
- communication means for effecting serial communication of control information required to control a function of said lens assembly;
- changing means for finding the number of functions to be controlled or the state of said lens assembly and changing the number of communication words for said communication means; and
- means for transmitting, if the number of communication words is changed, information indicative of the changed number of communication words to said lens assembly.
- 21. A camera assembly according to claim 20, wherein said number of communication words comprises the number of communication words in an initial communication for requesting the transmission of specifications of said lens assembly and the number of communication words in a control communication for controlling a driving part in said lens assembly.
- 22. A camera assembly according to claim 21, wherein said number of communication words for said initial communication is fixed, while said number of communication words for said control communication is variable according to the specifications of said lens assembly.
- 23. A camera assembly according to claim 22, wherein said lens assembly includes a plurality of driving parts each of which is a target to be controlled, said communication means communicating the information required to drive said driving parts in synchronization with a vertical synchronizing frequency (V-sync).
- 24. A data communication system comprising:
- communication means for selectively setting, between a master side and a slave side, a first communication mode for finding the state of connection of said system, a function of said slave side and the like and a second communication mode for controlling the function of said slave side; and
- means for transmitting to said slave side information on the number of words for a communication mode which is selected if a mode switching operation is performed between said first communication mode and said second communication mode in a case where the number of communication words in said first communication mode differs from the number of communication words in said second communication mode.
- 25. A data communication system according to claim 24, wherein said second communication mode utilizes communication words whose number is variable according to a target to be controlled on said slave side.
- 26. A data communication system according to claim 24, wherein communication is started in said first communication mode and it is determined from the result of said communication whether said second communication mode should be selected.
- 27. A data communication system suitable for use in a camera system which controls a function of a lens assembly on the basis of information on each of communication words serially transmitted from said camera assembly, comprising:
- communication means capable of selectively setting an initial communication mode for finding the state of connection between said camera assembly and said lens assembly and a target to be controlled in said lens assembly and a second communication mode for controlling the function of said lens assembly on the basis of the number of words which differs from the number of words used in said initial communication mode; and
- means for transmitting to said lens assembly information on the number of words for a communication mode which is selected if a mode switching operation is performed between said first communication mode and said second communication mode.
- 28. A data communication system according to claim 27, wherein said second communication mode utilizes communication words whose number is variable, the number of communication words being determined according to the result of communication in said first communication mode.
- 29. A data communication system according to claim 28, wherein said target to be controlled in said lens assembly through said communication is at least one unit arbitrarily selected from among an AF (auto-focus) unit, an AE (auto-exposure) unit, a zooming unit and an AS (auto-stabilizing) unit.
- 30. A data communication system according to claim 27, wherein said communication is serially performed in synchronization with a vertical synchronizing frequency (V-sync).
- 31. An interchangeable lens system comprising:
- a camera assembly:
- a lens assembly which can be detachably attached to said camera assembly;
- communication means for providing communication of control information between said camera assembly and said lens assembly, driving means in said lens assembly being controlled from said camera assembly through said communication means; and
- reply means for sending said control information back to said camera assembly as reply information indicating that there is no target to be controlled, if said lens assembly does not include any driving means corresponding to said control information supplied from said camera assembly to said lens assembly.
- 32. An interchangeable lens system according to claim 31, wherein said reply means is means for connecting a communication line for transmitting said control information from said camera assembly to a line for sending back information from said lens assembly.
- 33. An interchangeable lens system according to claim 31, wherein said communication means performs communication to transmit the control information required to control said driving means in said lens assembly from said camera assembly and to send back to said camera assembly information indicative of the driving state of said driving means in said lens assembly.
- 34. An interchangeable lens system according to claim 33, wherein said communication is serially performed in synchronization with a vertical synchronizing frequency (V-sync).
- 35. An interchangeable lens system according to claim 33, wherein said driving means in said lens assembly is optical adjustment means selectively including an AF (auto-focus) unit, an AE (auto-exposure) unit, a zooming unit and the like.
- 36. An interchangeable lens system according to claims 31 or 32, wherein said reply means detects that no driving means corresponding to said control information is present, if the same information as said control information is sent back.
- 37. An interchangeable lens system according to claim 31, wherein said interchangeable lens system is either one of a video tape recorder and a video cassette recorder.
- 38. A lens assembly which can be detachably attached to a camera assembly, comprising reply means for sending control information, supplied from said camera assembly, back to said camera assembly as reply information indicating that there is no driving means, if said lens assembly does not include any driving means corresponding to said control information.
- 39. A lens assembly according to claim 38, wherein said reply means is means for connecting a communication line for transmitting said control information from said camera assembly with a communication line for receiving information sent back from said lens assembly.
- 40. A camera assembly to which a lens assembly can be detachably attached, comprising:
- communication means for transmitting to said lens assembly control information required to drive driving means in said lens assembly and for receiving information sent back from said lens assembly; and
- control means for omitting control associated with said driving means, if said communication means receives from said lens assembly reply information indicating that said lens assembly includes no driving means corresponding to said control information, so said control means being arranged to omit communication of said control information if said reply information sent back from said lens assembly is identical with said control information.
- 41. A camera assembly according to claim 40, wherein said control means is arranged to omit communication of said control information if said reply information sent back from said lens assembly is identical to said control information.
- 42. A control system comprising:
- a master-side unit;
- a slave-side unit which can be detachably attached to said master-side unit;
- communication means for providing communication of control information between said master-side unit and said slave-side unit, driving means in said slave-side unit being controlled from said master-side unit through said communication means; and
- reply means for sending communication data supplied from said master-side unit directly back to said master-side unit as reply information indicating that there is no target to be controlled, if said slave-side unit does not include any target to be controlled corresponding to said control information supplied from said master-side unit.
- 43. A lens driving apparatus comprising:
- driving means for changing the state of an optical system;
- photoelectric conversion means for converting into an electrical signal an image signal formed on its image-forming surface by said optical system;
- computation means for performing computations on control information required to control said optical system;
- communication means for communicating information indicative of a result of said computations performed by said computation means to said driving means at a predetermined communication timing; and
- control means for controlling said communication means so that said communication means transmits to said driving means said information indicative of the result of said computations performed by said computation means in synchronization with a communication timing which follows the time of completion of said computations.
- 44. A lens driving apparatus according to claim 43, wherein said driving means is focusing means for performing adjustment of focus.
- 45. A lens driving apparatus according to claim 43, wherein said driving means is exposure controlling means for controlling an iris.
- 46. A lens driving apparatus according to claim 44, wherein said computation means computes the control information required to control said focusing means, by detecting the state of focus on the basis of an output from said photoelectric conversion means.
- 47. A lens driving apparatus according to claim 45, wherein said computation means computes the control information required to control the iris, by detecting the state of exposure on the basis of an output from said photoelectric conversion means.
- 48. A lens driving apparatus according to claim 43, wherein said computation means performs communication in synchronization with the period of a vertical synchronizing signal.
- 49. A lens driving apparatus according to claim 43, wherein said driving means comprises a plurality of driving means, said computation means computing control information on each of said plurality of driving means.
- 50. A lens driving apparatus according to claim 49, wherein the time required for said computation means to process said computations and the timing at which said communication means performs communication differ with said plurality of said driving means.
- 51. A lens driving apparatus according to claim 50, wherein said control means causes said communication means to transmit said control information to said driving means by interrupt processing synchronized with a vertical synchronizing signal.
- 52. A lens driving apparatus according to claim 51, wherein if said computation means has not yet completed its computations when said interrupt processing is executed, said control means causes said communication means to transmit said control information by the next interrupt processing.
- 53. A lens driving apparatus according to claim 52, wherein said control means causes said communication means to transmit AF information at an interrupt timing which follows the time instant when it is determined that computations on said AF information have been completed, and to transmit AE information at the next interrupt timing.
- 54. A lens driving apparatus comprising:
- driving means for driving an optical system;
- photoelectric conversion means for converting into an electrical signal an image signal formed on its image-forming surface by said optical system;
- memory means for storing at least part of the output signal of said photoelectric conversion means;
- computation means for performing computations on control information required to control said optical system, by using a digital signal stored in said memory means;
- communication means for communicating information indicative of a result of the computations performed by said computation means to said driving means in synchronization with a vertical synchronizing signal; and
- control means for controlling said communication means so that said communication means transmits to said driving means said information indicative of the result of said computations performed by said computation means in synchronization with a vertical synchronizing signal which follows the time of completion of said computations.
- 55. A lens driving apparatus according to claim 54, wherein said control means causes said communication means to communicate said control information at an interrupt timing corresponding to said vertical synchronizing signal.
- 56. A lens driving apparatus according to claim 55, wherein if said computation means has not yet completed its computations when said interrupt occurs, said control means causes said communication means to transmit said control information at the next interrupt timing.
- 57. A lens driving apparatus according to claim 56, wherein said computation means performs a plurality of computations which require different processing times.
- 58. A lens driving apparatus according to claim 57, wherein whenever the time required to compute information is not fixed, said control means causes said communication means to perform transmission of said information at the next interrupt timing.
- 59. A lens driving apparatus according to claim 57, wherein said plurality of computations include AF processing and AE processing, wherein said control means causes said communication means to perform transmission of AF information if said AF processing has been completed at the time of occurrence of said interrupt, while if said AF processing has not yet been completed at the time of occurrence of said interrupt, said control means causes said communication means to perform transmission of AF information at the next interrupt timing, and wherein said control means causes said communication means to perform transmission of AE information at an interrupt timing which is delayed for one timing with respect to the transmission of AF information.
