Claims
- 1. A method for reducing blood lipid levels which comprises orally or parenterally administering to a hyperlipemic mammal an effective amount of a compound of the formula: ##SPC11##
- wherein
- X is a member selected from the group consisting of H, --CH.sub.3, CH.sub.3 O--, NO.sub.2, Br, Cl, F, I, --CF.sub.3, and CF.sub.3 SO.sub.2 --;
- R.sup.4 is a member selected from the group consisting of H, --CH.sub.3, --CF.sub.3, --NO.sub.2, Cl, Br, F, -OCH.sub.3, OCF.sub.3 and CF.sub.3 SO.sub.2 --;
- R.sup.5 is a member selected from the group consisting of: ##SPC12##
- --CH.sub.2 -.alpha.-naphthyl and -CH.sub.2 -.beta.-naphthyl;
- n = 0-3;
- R.sup.6 and R.sup.7 are members selected from the group consisting of H, lower alkyl of up to 6 carbon atoms and ##SPC13##
- provided that R.sup.6 and R.sup.7 are not both H when n = 0;
- and wherein X is as defined above;
- and the salts thereof with pharmaceutically acceptable bases.
- 2. The method of claim 1 where the compound is: ##SPC14##

- 4. The method of claim 1 where the compound is: ##SPC16##
- 5. The method of claim 1 where the compound is: ##SPC17##
- 6. The method of claim 1 where the compound is: ##SPC18##
- 7. The method of claim 1 where the compound is: ##SPC19##
- 8. The method of claim 1 where the compound is: ##SPC20##
- 9. The method of claim 1 where the compound is: ##SPC21##
- 10. The method for reducing blood lipid levels which comprises orally or parenterally administering to a hyperlipemic mammal an effective amount of a compound of the formula: ##SPC22##
