Claims
- 1. A handling tool for coupling to a cutting guide, including:
- (a) a substantially elongate first end shaped to be grasped by a human hand; and
- (b) at least two mating tines, disposed at a second end of the tool, wherein the mating tines are biased to move towards each other, and wherein the mating tines are forced apart from each other by a cam portioned therebetween, and wherein the mating tines each include a mating feature for mating the tool with the cutting guide.
- 2. The tool of claim 1, wherein the mating feature is comprised of a guide knob and a locking dovetail positioned at a distal end of the mating tine, and wherein the guide knob is shaped to be received by a guide slot in the cutting guide, and wherein the locking dovetail secures the tool to the guide when the guide knob is inserted into the guide slot and the tines are forced apart by the cam.
- 3. The tool of claim 1, further comprising a sighting rod for aligning with a mechanical axis of a patient's femur.
- 4. The tool of claim 3, having at least one opening for receiving the sighting rod.
- 5. The tool of claim 4, wherein said at least one opening includes a cylindrical bore.
- 6. The tool of claim 4, wherein said at least one opening includes a slot.
- 7. The tool of claim 1 wherein the cam is elliptical.
- 8. The tool of claim 1 wherein the mating feature further includes an insertion knob received by a slot in the cutting guide.

No. 08/357,430 filed Dec. 16, 1994, now abandoned.
