Claims
- 1. An intraoral device, comprising:
a body having a first wall made of translucent material and a second wall, the first and second walls of the body having an outer surface and an inner surface, the inner surfaces of the first and second walls defining an interior cavity, evacuation holes extending from the outer surface to the interior cavity, the body comprising a central portion and opposite side portions extending laterally from the central portion, one of the side portions including a cheek retractor portion to retract a cheek of a user; a connector portion extending laterally from the side portion of the body opposite the cheek retractor portion and adapted to extend outside of a user's mouth to connect with a vacuum source, the connector portion comprising a first communication channel for communicating a vacuum from the vacuum source to the interior cavity for evacuating fluids and debris from the user's mouth through the evacuation holes, the interior cavity, and the first communication channel.
- 2. The intraoral device of claim 1, wherein the body and the connector portion are part of a single-piece, integrated intraoral device.
- 3. The intraoral device of claim 1, wherein the intraoral device is disposable.
- 4. The intraoral device of claim 1, further comprising a second communication channel extending between the first wall and the second wall and in vacuum communication with the vacuum source.
- 5. The intraoral device of claim 1, wherein the body comprises a substantially translucent material.
- 6. The intraoral device of claim 1, wherein the body is injection molded.
- 7. The intraoral device of claim 1, wherein the body further comprises a tongue retractor portion to retract the tongue of a user.
- 8. The intraoral device of claim 7, wherein the tongue retractor portion comprises multiple channels.
- 9. The intraoral device of claim 7, wherein the tongue retractor portion comprises a lower portion, and the interior cavity communicates with the outer surface at the lower portion.
- 10. The intraoral device of claim 9, wherein the tongue retractor portion comprises at least one evacuation hole for communicating the interior cavity with the outer surface at the lower portion.
- 11. The intraoral device of claim 1, further comprising a bitable portion extending laterally from the side portion of the body opposite the cheek retractor portion, said bitable portion comprising a bite block to fit between a subject's upper and lower teeth.
- 12. The intraoral device of claim 11, wherein the connector portion extends laterally from the bitable portion.
