Claims
- 1. A catamenial device for insertion into a vagina canal with a vaginal wall comprising:
a blood absorbing member for absorption of menstrual blood a substantially fluid impermeable inflatable member connected to said absorbing member to engage upon inflation the vaginal wall to prevent blood exit from the vaginal canal, a tubular member to carry said absorbing member into the vaginal canal, and means for actuating a source means of gas to inflate said inflatable member.
- 2. The device of clam 1, wherein said source means of gas comprises a barrel member in flow communication with the interior of said inflatable member, said actuating means comprising a plunger member airtightly slideable within said barrel member to displace said gas from said barrel member into said inflatable member, said plunger member causing forward displacement of said absorbing member relatively to said barrel member to enable placement of said absorbing member into the vaginal canal.
- 3. The device of claim 1, wherein said source means of gas comprises chemical substrates said actuating means enabling interaction of said chemical substrates to produce said gas, said actuating means being slideable within said tubular member carrying said absorbing member, said actuating means causing forward displacement of said absorbing member relatively to said tubular member to enable placement of said absorbing member into the vaginal canal.
- 4. The device of claim 3, wherein said source means of gas is housed within said inflatable member.
- 5. The device of claim 1, wherein said source means of gas comprises a capsule containing said gas in a compressed state, said actuating means enabling release of said gas from said capsule into said inflatable member, said actuating means being slideable within said tubular member carrying said absorbing member, said actuating means causing forward displacement of said absorbing member relatively to said tubular member to enable placement of said absorbing member into the vaginal canal.
- 6: The device of claim 5, wherein said source means of gas is housed within said inflatable member.
- 7. A catamenial device for insertion into a vaginal canal with a vaginal wall comprising:
a substantially fluid impermeable inflatable member to engage upon inflation the vaginal wall to prevent blood exit from the vaginal canal, a tubular member to carry said inflatable member into the vaginal canal, and means for actuating a source means of gas to inflate said inflatable member.
