Claims
- 1-10. (canceled).
- 11. A bandage shaped for conformity with joints and other articulating body areas, comprising:
an absorbent layer with a peripheral edge; an outwardly extending layer including an outwardly extending layer for securement to a patient, the outwardly extending layer having a peripheral edge that extends beyond the peripheral edge of the absorbent layer; and one or more notches on the peripheral edge of the outwardly extending layer.
- 12. The bandage of claim 11, wherein the notches are generally V-shaped.
- 13. The bandage of claim 11, wherein:
the outwardly extending layer has a shorter and a longer dimension; and a notch on the shorter dimension.
- 14. The bandage of claim 11, wherein:
the outwardly extending layer has a shorter and a longer dimension; and a notch on the longer dimension.
- 15. The bandage of claim 11, wherein:
the outwardly extending layer has a plurality of distinct edges; and a notch on more than one of the edges.
- 16. The bandage of claim 11, wherein:
the outwardly extending layer has first and second edges that are generally perpendicular to one another; and notches on the first and second edges.
- 17. The bandage of claim 11, wherein:
the outwardly extending layer has first and second edges that are generally parallel to one another; and notches on the first and second edges.
- 18. The bandage of claim 11, wherein the smallest dimension of the outwardly extending layer is at least 2 inches.
- 19. The bandage of claim 11, wherein the absorbent layer includes a non-stick patient-contacting surface.
- 20. The bandage of claim 11, wherein the notches cause the outwardly extending layer to assume a general bow-tie shape.
- 21. The bandage of claim 11, wherein:
the outwardly extending layer has four edges; and a notch on each edge.
- 22. A bandage configured for use on an articulating joint, comprising:
a layer including a pair of opposing notches that open and close during articulation when the bandage is properly applied.
