Claims
- 1. An uncrosslinked or crosslinked agarose which contains basic radicals of the formula ##STR17## wherein n is 1 or 2, each of R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 independently is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by hydroxy, nitrile, halogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy, cyclopentyl or cyclohexyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl-substituted cyclopentyl or cyclohexyl, benzyl or phenyl, each unsubstituted or substituted by nitro or halogen, or R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached form a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring, or R.sub.3 and R.sub.3, together with the grouping ##STR18## to which they are attached also form a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring, and each of Q.sub.1 and Q.sub.2 independently is C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkylene, or zwitterionic radicals of the formula ##STR19## wherein X is --O--, --S--, ##STR20## or a direct bond, R.sub.11 is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, Q.sub.5 is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkylene or phenylene radical, each of which is unsubstituted or substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl or phenyl, Z.sub.1 is --B--COO.sup..crclbar., C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl or hydrogen, and A and B are each independently of the other C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkylene which is unsubstituted or substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy or phenyl, or acid radicals of the formula
- .crclbar.Y.sub.1 --Q.sub.5 --CO--NH--CH.sub.2 --O--.
- wherein Y.sub.1.sup..crclbar. is --COO.sup..crclbar., --SO.sub.3.sup..crclbar. or --P(OR.sub.11)O.sub.2.sup..crclbar., R.sub.11 is hydrogen and Q.sub.5 is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkylene or phenylene radical, each of which is unsubstituted or substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl or phenyl, which radicals are attached to said agarose through the ether oxygen of the --CO--NH--CH.sub.2 --O-- group of said radicals.
- 2. An agarose according to claim 1, which contains basic radicals of the formula ##STR21##
- 3. An agarose according to claim 1, which contains basic radicals of the formula ##STR22## wherein each of R.sub.9 and R.sub.10 is isopropyl, n-propyl, ethyl or methyl.
- 4. An agarose according to claim 1, which contains zwitterionic radicals of the formula ##STR23## wherein Z.sub.2 is methyl or hydrogen.
- 5. An agarose according to claim 1, which contains acid radicals of the formula
- Y.sub.2.sup..crclbar. --Q.sub.6 --CO--NH--CH.sub.2 --O--,
- wherein Q.sub.6 is isopropylene, n-propylene, ethylene or methylene, and Y.sub.2.sup..crclbar. is --COO.sup..crclbar., --SO.sub.3.sup..crclbar., or ##STR24## and R.sub.11 is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl.
- 6. An agarose according to claim 1, which has a degree of substitution of 0.1 to 0.8.
- 7. An agarose according to claim 1, which contains basic radicals of the formula ##STR25## wherein n is 1 or 2, each of R.sub.5, R.sub.6, R.sub.7 and R.sub.8 independently is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl which is substituted by hydroxy, nitrile or chloro, or cyclopentyl or cyclohexyl, each unsubstituted or substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, or is chlorobenzyl, benzyl, chlorophenyl, nitrophenyl or phenyl, or R.sub.5 and R.sub.6, together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached form a pyrrolidinium or piperidinium ring, or together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached and an oxygen atom, form a morpholinium ring, or R.sub.7 and R.sub.8, together with the grouping ##STR26## to which they are attached, form an imidazolinium, benzimidazolinium, piperazinium or triazinium ring, or a mono- or dichlorotriazinium ring, and each of Q.sub.3 and Q.sub.4 independently of the other is C.sub.2 -C.sub.3 alkylene.
