Claims
- 1. An irrigation tubing connector for use in connection with a nosecone adapter in an ultrasonic surgical system of the type which includes an irrigation cowl defining an irrigation port of an irrigation fluid passage in an assembled handpiece of an ultrasonic surgical system, said irrigation tubing connector comprising:
- an elongated tubular body, said elongated body defining a first tubular end portion structurally adapted for insertion in the irrigation port;
- a radially extending, generally centrally located rib portion limiting the insertion of said first portion in the irrigation port, and
- said tubular body defining a second tubular end portion for insertion in a tubing end of irrigation tubing, the insertion of said second end portion being limited by said rib,
- said first portion has an axis which is oriented at an acute angle relative to an axis of said second portion, so that the irrigation tubing can extend along a portion of the handpiece,
- said second portion includes a circumferentially located barb tapered to facilitate slip fitting of the irrigation tubing thereonto and inhibiting withdrawal therefrom.
- 2. An irrigation tubing connector for use in connection with a nosecone adapter in an ultrasonic surgical system which system includes an irrigation cowl defining an irrigation port in an irrigation fluid passage in an assembled ultrasonic surgical system handpiece, said irrigation tubing connector comprising:
- an elongate tubular body having a first tubular body portion and a second tubular body portion, an end axis of said first body portion is oriented at an acute angle relative to an end axis of said second body portion;
- said first body portion defining a tapered outward end portion structurally adapted for insertion in the irrigation port,
- said body including a radially-extending, generally centrally located rib portion limiting the insertion of said first body portion in the irrigation port and limiting insertion of second body portion into the irrigation tubing,
- said second body portion includes a circumferentially located projection tapered to facilitate slip fitting of the irrigation tubing there- onto and inhibiting its withdrawal therefrom.
- 3. The irrigation tubing connector as set forth in claim 2 wherein said acute angle is about 24.degree..
