Claims
- 1. Polyurethane foam comprising the reaction product of:(1) polyphenylene polymethylene polyisocyanate composition including, (a) 15 to 42 percent by weight, based on 100% of the polyisocyanate composition, of diphenylmethane diisocyanate, (b) 3-ring oligomers of polyphenylene polymethylene polyisocyanate in an amount such that the ratio of (a) to (b) is equal to from about 0.2 to about 1.8, and (c) higher homologues of polyphenylene polymethylene polyisocyanate; (2) isocyanate-reactive composition containing a plurality of isocyanate-reactive groups; and (3) hydrocarbon blowing agent.
- 2. The polyurethane foam of claim 1, wherein the amount of the diphenylmethane diisocyanate is equal to from about 20 to about 40 percent.
- 3. The polyurethane foam of claim 2, wherein the amount of the diphenylmethane diisocyanate is equal to from about 24 to about 38 percent.
- 4. The polyurethane foam of claim 1, additionally including water or other carbon dioxide evolving compounds.
- 5. The polyurethane foam of claim 1, wherein the hydrocarbon is present in an amount equal to from about 2 to about 20 percent by weight, based on the weight of the reaction system.
- 6. The polyurethane foam of claim 5, wherein the hydrocarbon is present in an amount equal to from about 4 to about 15 percent by weight, based on the weight of the reaction system.
- 7. The polyurethane foam of claim 1, wherein the hydrocarbon is selected from the group consisting of butane, isobutane, isopentane, n-pentane, cyclopentane, 1-pentene, iso-hexane, n-hexane, n-heptane, isoheptane, and mixtures thereof.
- 8. The polyurethane foam of claim 7, wherein the hydrocarbon is selected from the group consisting of butane, isobutane, isopentane, n-pentane, cyclopentane, and mixtures thereof.
- 9. The polyurethane foam of claim 7, wherein the hydrocarbon is isopentane.
- 10. Polyurethane foam comprising the reaction product of:(1) polyphenylene polymethylene polyisocyanate composition including, (a) 15 to 42 percent by weight, based on 100% of the polyisocyanate composition, of diphenylmethane diisocyanate, (b) 3-ring oligomers of polyphenylene polymethylene polyisocyanate in an amount such that the ratio of (a) to (b) is equal to from about 0.2 to about 1.8, and (c) higher homologues of polyphenylene polyisocyanate; (2) isocyanate-reactive composition containing a plurality of isocyanate-reactive groups; (3) hydrocarbon blowing agent; and (4) water.
- 11. The polyurethane foam of claim 10, wherein the amount of the diphenylmethane diisocyanate is equal to from about 20 to about 40 percent.
- 12. The polyurethane foam of claim 11, wherein the amount of the diphenylmethane diisocyanate is equal to from about 24 to about 38 percent.
- 13. The polyurethane foam of claim 10, wherein the hydrocarbon is present in an amount equal to from about 2 to about 20 percent by weight, based on the weight of the total of (1), (2), (3) and (4).
- 14. The polyurethane foam of claim 13, wherein the hydrocarbon is present in an amount equal to from about 4 to about 15 percent by weight, based on the weight of the total of (1), (2), (3) and (4).
- 15. The polyurethane foam of claim 10, wherein the water is present in an amount equal to from about 0.1 to about 5 percent by weight, based on the weight of the total of (1), (2), (3) and (4).
- 16. The polyurethane foam of claim 15, wherein the water is present in an amount equal to from about 0.2 to about 4 percent by weight, based on the weight of the total of (1), (2), (3) and (4).
- 17. The polyurethane foam of claim 10, wherein the hydrocarbon is selected from the group consisting of butane, isobutane, isopentane, n-pentane, cyclopentane, 1-pentene, iso-hexane, n-hexane, n-heptane, isoheptane, and mixtures thereof.
- 18. The polyurethane foam of claim 17, wherein the hydrocarbon is selected from the group consisting of butane, isobutane, isopentane, n-pentane, cyclopentane, and mixtures thereof.
- 19. The polyurethane foam of claim 17, wherein the hydrocarbon is isopentane.
